Improve the exterior appearance of this house by giving the front of the house a makeover. Looking for better curb appeal. Ideas include:
• Changing the roof color
• Changing the paint colors. (No light, pastel colors – except whites and tans are OK ---- don’t like pastel colored pinks, pastel purples, pastel greens, pastel blues, pastel yellows, etc…. ) The main paint color of the house is currently Totally Tan SW6115 by Sherwin Williams. It would be nice to be able to keep this color so that I don’t have to spend extra money and time on painting the entire house. (but would like to see other color options as well if it will make a big difference in the appearance of the house) If we keep this color, then I would like to change the color of the trim and perhaps incorporate additional colors onto the main part of the house or other areas to give the house more interest and dimension. (maybe an accent color on one section of exterior wall, or changing color of trim and posts, etc…). Really interested in using paint colors in different ways to make this house look appealing.
• Adding some landscape features and define the driveway and carport area.
• The attached pictures show a metal garage door on the front right side of the house (about 16’ wide), which needs to be covered up or masked in some way to incorporate with the design of the rest of the house because it is no longer a garage door that opens up. The garage was converted into closed in living space as a bedroom. The cars will drive up and park under the carport instead of parking in the former garage. There are currently spots for 3 cars – but it’s possible to use one of the spots for some other purpose or feature because we really only need space for 2 cars to park. The metal garage door needs to remain because it has been sealed shut, but would like for it to no longer look like a garage door entrance area. This is a brick house.
• Adding some interesting, simple design features – such as around windows, or adding elements of natural wood, changing the front door. (Current glass windows will remain unchanged.)
• I would like to see someone else’s view of the house and what it can become without making any major structural changes to the house. I like the modern ranch types of houses with elements of wood, stone, (perhaps a bit of metal accent).
• The house is in a quiet, peaceful area and sits on 1 acre of land. The lot is rectangular with the front and backyard being fairly narrow, and most of the acreage is to the left of the house if looking at the front of the house. The public road runs horizontally along the front of the house. Currently no fencing on the property. The pictures show that there is a wooden shed outside to the left of the house. The shed is on a concrete slab. The shed will be removed from the property, so would like to see that concrete slab turned into a place for seating and/or outdoor fire pit. It is about 12’x20’ rectangular shaped slab. It’s about 20’ out from the left edge of the house.
Pictures of the house are attached. The house currently looks very drab and unappealing -- looking for ways to incorporate different colors and features to add more dimension and interest. Focus of the project should be the front of the house and how it looks when you are standing in front of the property and looking at the house (for better curb appeals). I really like the idea of having elements of natural wood look and contrasting colors. Exterior measurements of the front of the house attached. Return a rendition, images, colored illustrations, or colored drawing of what the exterior of the house will look like with your recommendations and changes.

I would be interested to see what it would look like with one of the carport bays (the last one furthest from the main house) converted into a garage .

I expect to spend about $5,000 plus the cost of new roof and paint. We will do most of the work ourselves so the cost will mostly be for materials. The garage is no longer used as a garage because it was converted to a bedroom. So, we will use the carport for parking. There are 3 car spaces under the carport and we really only need 2 of them for parking cars... so you can play with one of the spaces under the carport. Thanks

What kind of budget are you planning for your renovation? Also, the house has a garage already. are you looking to keep the carport? If so will it be used for parking or can I play with it?

I don't have the exact dimensions, but here is the square footage of the house: Attached carport = 720 sq ft, attached garage = 450 sq ft, covered porch = 224 sq ft, main area of house = 1392 sq ft. Does this help?
