Contest Brief

The designer will create the UI and design for one screen which is part of a restaurant booking application. I have attached an existing page, logo and colour scheme as guidance in terms of style I am looking for. See attached the brief for this page.

The application will be used on TABLET. Please include visualizations for tablet in your submission.

The final work will be delivered with JPEG and PSD files, prototype / mock-up and wireframe . The UI needs to be accompanied by a detailed explanation to assist the code developer. During the handover period the freelancer will create the wireframe.

I am looking for a long-term collaboration and the winner will be awarded work in the next few weeks (estimated project value $2,500).

I have received a few entries which have a similar flaw and I thought I would make everybody aware in case you are choosing the same path. The space needs to be used efficiently as there is a lot of information and functionality on one screen. Just to clarify – all functionalities described in the brief need to be accessed and displayed on one screen though you will have to use some pop-up windows. Some of you have represented the tables as real objects (table plus chairs) or spatially (like an architecture drawing) which is totally unnecessary as it takes too much space without adding much value. The design must be simple, modern, suggestive, stylised, must not detract the user from functionality.

A restaurant will have 30-50 tables and all of them need to be displayed on the screen although the user will have to scroll to see all of them. Make sure you will use a design which allows you to display on the screen as many tables as possible without making them look crowded. The tables are located on two different floors.The tables must be identified with numbers from 1 to 50.

There has been some confusion about the terms "sitting" and "seat". The table has seats. The restaurant uses different time slots to manage its bookings and these are called "sittings". There are 2 sittings in the evening - 7pm and 9pm. The user must be able to switch easily between the sittings.

To confirm, the contest is just for ONE screen (TABLET) that would include all the features described in the PDF file Contest brief. You may use a pop-up window to show the details (for example details of bookings) but essentially I would like all funtionalities to be accessed from this screen.
