Contest Brief
Background: My dog Sabra was rescued from Israel during the Hezbollah conflict in 2006. The story of his rescue along with 39 other dogs was covered in media outlets in Israel, NY and Washington, DC, where the majority of the dogs landed. My dog, when he came into my life, was extremely challenged by his post-war experience (PTSD) and had difficulty walking, was resistant to food, was scared of loud noises and had a variety of difficult experiences. Little did I know when I adopted him that this little pup would turn out to be the equivalent of Marmaduke and capture so much attention.
I have written a story for children about his life and our time together. For the past 8 years we have been stopped on the street every day given his looks and size. He is incredibly gentle, quirky and large! He has many expresssions that give him a lot of personality and would like to find the right children's book illustrator to capture these nuances. I am attaching a couple pages to test out with the idea of hiring someone to collaborate on this children's book. I am also attaching a few photos of him.
