Hello!

Looking for an explosion to be created in FumeFX or Houdini, TurbulenceFD etc. You can use whatever program you like as long as it creates a realistic looking explosion.

This is to represent a spaceship exploding in space, so it will be a relatively quick explosion with some flames, some sparks and a little bit of smoke. As it's in space, the smoke and flames will dissipate quite quickly. If it's possible to include some generic debris, like you usually see in sci-fi spaceship explosions, then that would be great. Needs to be provided with a transparent background for ease of compositing.

None of the explosion should leave the sides of the frame but try and make the explosion as big as you can within the frame.

As the explosion is supposed to be in a zero gravity environment, the smoke and flames won't move upwards, and the debris (if included) won't fall downwards. No specific direction apart from that. Here's some examples that should give you an idea of what I'm after, but any kind of sci-fi spaceship explosion you've seen in films or sci-fi shows would fit the bill:

You're welcome to alter or re-purpose any existing explosions you've made previously for this, but it's important that I have full copyright/ownership of the explosion as I'll be adding it to my library of elements that I use for creating stock footage and VFX shots.

Deliverable: 1620x1620, 29.97fps, Quicktime PNG with Alpha. Quality at 75%. 8 seconds minimum, 10 seconds maximum.

The idea is that the explosion is at half speed... so a 10 second clip could be used to show a very large, slow explosion... or the clip could be played at double the speed (5 seconds) to represent a smaller ship exploding more quickly. Hopefully that makes sense?!

I appreciate that such a large explosion will take time to render, so probably best to render a 25% resolution version to upload as your entry or something, and then you can render the full resolution version once awarded the contest.

Thanks. If you take a look at the link in the brief, the one with the spaceships, that's the kind of thing it will be used for. Something like that would be ideal.

  I appreciate that Freelancer advise using that hashtag for some strange reason, but I'm going to need a bit more to go on than that. Why should I increase the prize? What should I increase the prize to? What can I expect if I do increase the prize? What can I expect if I don't increase the price etc etc?
