Keterangan Peraduan

We are developing turn based game for social networks. The realm is fantasy but each race has some specific features to be illustrated.

The contest winner will be given an order for 14 more characters for another 1000$ and probably, board and terrain development order for an additional fee.

IMPORTANT: 2nd best model`s author might be given simlar order for another set of units of different race.

You may find a sketch attached to the post to get the idea of hexagon fields and unit size in-game. At same time models to be used for illustrations in bigger size. In your example try to fit a sample of your model on a hexagon in the attached file.

IMPORTANT: The rival project "epic arena": [url removed, login to view] - we want similar look but more smooth and glamorous models.

Use your imagination but remember that we want that both boys and girls want to posses and lick it. Pop/fun a bit glamorous but at the same time realistic fantasy/medieval. Units might include minor steampunk elements. Pros of the art might be disbalance between unit and weapon size, it should be more fun and cool-looking but it SHOULD NOT look childish.

We need 3D models in .OBJ and .FBX with bonestructure under the following requirements:

Board game model:
1) Low poly model for board game 3D printing

Example 2: [url removed, login to view] model size to be 2,5-3cm tall.

Online game model:
1) high quality 3D model for online version of the game
2) simple inactivity animation sample
3) combat animation sample


The description of test contest character (the hardest model so far):

Name: Goblin Yeti Rider
General info: its a cavalry unit, goblin riding a yeti (single model). The unit is a heavy ranged shooter and yeti is mostly required to carry some giant cannon/artillery/gun.
Inactivity animation something like yeti farts loudly and goblin closes his ears or any other depends on your imagination. Just keep it fun and cool.
combat animation sample - shooting (something like goblin slaps yet and yeti shoots but again up to you, use your imagination).

You can play with skin colors try them in blue, green, red and as-you-wish colors, though it should be reasonable enough - pink goblins are way too glamorous and it will turn some customers away, so fantasy stylistics should be the the priority.

    hello. are you choosing artist or backing out. don't get stuck with the look now, it would be a lot nicer with color texture and some tweaks. good luck with your decision

      hello. its good news , but i would like to stylize the goblin char a little. i like the first goblin concept but he feels kinda older and tough. its more of a independent character,maybe a unit of its own .he doesent
      look like he need some yeti to hold a weapon for him .if i add this guy on a yeti's back it would look like he is torturing the poor big foot.
      i started working on some other proportions and need to get some sleep now so ill upload concept tomorrow.
      as for the animation if i force things and proceed with rig and animating it would not have a point if its not going to work in the engine.i need to know what game engine are you using find out rig limitations,
      animation preferences. poly count limitations stuff like that. and those things and quality results take time. but i hope to have the opportunity to work on this project. in a long term ill do great

      Sounds reasonable on animation, but please try to make it goblin, riding a yeti with yeti carrying a cannon before the contest is over. Thanks.

    #6 Yeti is much better than at #5, though some details we would like to change: add more fingers to yeti, make goblin hands more human-like (thinner), make goblin clothes less bright (or try changing color), make yet carry the gun in the hand )or make shooting animation hat he takes it from the back to hands and shoots).

    #5 Yeti is not attractive enough, but you can used these spired bracers somewhere on the #6 for more details.

    @Nastevski, camera movement will be similar to epic arena, camera zoom a bit less closer, but just a bit. Default camera might be even a bit more above, but we dont want to exclude zoom options for later phases.

    #2 & #4 Yeties to be combined: #2 has better shape, #4 has better fur coverage. Cannon to be smth like http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b198/Rithesa/cannon.jpg like it was stolen from a pirate ship. Goblin on #2 is a lot better and more attractive.

    Your work is interesting, but I am not an animator. Check my 3D modelling, illustrations and 3D printing portfolio and send me a pm. Let me discuss the yeti and goblin with you in private. I am not a sketch artist more of a 3D one, will be faster for me to show you a 3D concept than doodling with pencil, so need to discuss first. and if possible extent the deadline. I am already working on 2 3D projects.

    #1 - We want characters to be glamorous and more realistic in details. In this sample we dont like such details as the unnatural position of ears and eyes, childish look of clothes, generally low amount of details for online game version (though such model quality might be good enough for board version 3d printing probably). Each character should have some unique pearl in it which is missing here.

    For more effective result you can post the concept sketch first and comment it before you start making 3D model.
