We are in need of a design for our real time strategy (RTS) game assets.
In this contest we ask you to provide two fancy designs for a character and a building (something like a tower with a cannon or the like). Those two models will be the foundation for further designs and the overall look of the game.

Note that the game uses a fixed view angle and pre-rendered animated sprites at runtime.

The screenshot has a vintage look that we do not want for the new assets but it has the 2D projection that we want to achieve in our game.

Some corner points that may interest you:

- The primary target platforms are Android and iOS. Desktop and WebGL may follow in the future.
- The game itself uses animated sprites generated from the 3D models. So the models will NOT be used in the game engine, which means there are no restrictions on the poly count or any other restriction on the model.
- The sprites will be rendered for different resolutions upfront (up to 128x128 pixel per sprite) from a fixed angle. This means your animations do not need to be extremly sophisticated, they should just look good in the selected angle.

Expected deliverables:
----------------------
1) Model file and any textures/materials for a character with a 'walk' animation.
2) Model file and any textures/materials for a building with a 'turn turret' animation.
3) A sprite (.png) showing a single frame of the animation of each model rendered from an angle resembling the view from the screenshot above.
4) A plus would be if you can provide automated scripts for the conversion 3D Model -> 2D Sprite for a fixed view angle and different rotations of the model.
5) Any additional files may required to render the models to the sprite sheet.

The file format for the models is up to you, preferably a format which is easy to use with Blender. We are open for suggestions, please comment in the clarification board on what you think.

The used renderer is also up to you. Please also comment in the clarification board if you plan to use a renderer which is not part of the standard distribution of the used tool (e.g. Blender).

Details on the models and the expected style:

1) We like the idea of a STEAM PUNK and/or POST-APOCALYPTIC setting for the game. Here a list of films to give you an idea of what we mean:

2) Allthough it is a dark theme, the style should not contain too much gore and be not to gloomy, the style should be all-age.
3) The model of the building should have a square tower base and some sort of turnable turret (gun or rocket launcher or...) on top.
4) The model of the character can be anything from a mad professor to a steam-powered-atomic-uber-mechwarrior. It is up to you, use your imagination!

General Notes:

Please keep in mind that this contest provides the foundation for the following assets and the overall look. This means the most important aspect will be the originality of the design. So do not spend too much time and energy on the perfect animation, allthough we like perfect animations and they are regarded as a big plus :-)!

Hi steam punk characters as in you need both pistol wielding and magic based character,would i be right i f i guess you want designs along the lines of arcanum.

  I am not sure what you mean exactly. I don't know Arcanum but looking at some images in Google it looks like too much magic and too less steam punk. Anyway, you may provide a short sketch of what you mean beforehand so we know what we are talking about.

I have just created a whole 3D village for a POST-APOCALYPTIC game in Zbrush. check videos here

I can model the character but I am not good with Character animation, I am learning in it maya but not getting time because of projects here.

I can easily create the buildings and turret. Check the second page of videos, there is one turret tower and also a special kind of tower called the beast tower.

I am currently creating a game map in Vue and can use it to render your turret as well, or even get it done in photoshop also, with proper lighting and rendering.

instead of sprite sheets, would it be ok to give a video link of the animation's renderings, also is cycles rendering of blender acceptable or do you want the original blender render.

  Cycles Render is fine.
  Regarding the sprite sheets I think a video link to show the animation is fine but we want at least a single frame at the end of the contest rendered into a png to see how it fits (regarding the shadows, transparent background and so on).
