Contest Brief

Want to create three templates on the same theme for trade shows, so that all literature has a consistent branded look. One side of each flyer (presentation) will be unique in layout, etc., but the reverse sides (informational) of the flyer should have the same layout. Each flyer will support a different offering from our airline consulting groups Crew Management Practice. Size should be 5.5" x 8" (half page) two-sided, and I will consider portrait, landscape or both (portrait front, landscape back, etc.). Size can be narrower or shorter, must be able to print two-up on 8.5 x 11 stock. Each piece should incorporate one of the icons from our theme of ALIGN, OPTIMIZE, and RECRUIT and must incorporate the logo on both sides of the piece. Looking for a clean, minimalist look that can convey adequate content without overwhelming the potential client. Suggested elements on the page will include
- the words "Crew Management" (see the banner example)
- Offering/Product Title
- Either a ALIGN, OPTIMIZE or RECRUIT icon box (see the banner example)
- 3 to 5 "key questions" (e.g. are you ready for...., etc.);
- A paragraph about the offering;
- 5 to 8 "How we can help" bullet points.
- Graphic elements
- Logo
Would like to stay away from incorporating photos, relying instead on clean graphics.
The graphics for a stand-up trade show banner we used is attached, as well as the plane icon, logo, and color guide. The logo font is from the ITC Avant Garde Gothic Std family and we can provide font packs if necessary. Text in our literature has been from that font family or Avenir Book.

    Number 11 is crude, but it's the closest to what i'm looking for in terms of design. Lots of white space. Front of template is light on content. Rear of template has detailed info.

    All of the designs today are very dense, and not close to the goal of a minimalist design. I have uploaded a SAMPLE CONTENT document to provide an example of the content. Also, only one Square/Plane Icon (ALIGN, OPTIMIZE, or RECRUIT) should appear no more than once on each side of the template to associate the flyer with one of our Crew Management practice areas.

    Of the examples, here's some initial feedback. #2 is the most polished, but it's generic and didn't reflect any design work based off of the requirements. #7 uses the icons correctly, but the design isn't minimalist. The font guidance provided (ITC Avant Garde and Avenir Book) provide a heavier, but rounded font for labels and a much lighter font for content. The pieces should integrate the colors provided in the logo and color key file, but there should be a significant amount of white space to keep the feel of the templates light. Please look at the files uploaded as they provide good indications of desired content, font use, and design.

    Please refer to the Banner example in the uploaded files for the look and feel. The templates should be minimalist and follow the graphics/feel of the logo. The website www.rossch.com also provides information about our services.

    The content will be a description of consulting services for airline crew management. As noted in the original description, these services could fall under one of three categories: Align (services oriented to an airlines management and labor agreements); Optimize (services oriented towards getting the most out of technology or workers' skills); and Recruit (services oriented towards helping airlines recruit and retain qualified pilots). The job is to create three templates (one for each of the three categories) that can be used to describe services under the respective categories.
