This logo design is for Ruby Genius. Ruby Genius is a website under design with information about the Ruby Programming language.

The design for the logo should combine Ruby (either color, gem, etc) with something representative of "genius". The logo should be similar to the name, combining both the genius and the ruby words into one logo. The logo should be attractive to Information Technology (IT) people. Designs that look best on a t-shirt will be preferred. Designs should look good on a white t-shirt as well as a black t-shirt. Ruby Genius is a developing community and the design should be something a geek would want to wear around town on the front of their shirt. The logo will be prominently displayed as the first thing seen on the website as well. It will likely be large and centered. These are some of the criteria that will be considered when evaluating your design.

I reserve the right to grant the winner prior to the end of the contest duration. I need all of the typical vectorized and non-vectorized file formats. If the design includes a graphic and words, you may be required to provide files of the graphic by itself in addition to the logo files.

  #35 is really nice. Good concept and the graphic is nice. The only thing I am not sure about is the words are more elegant than they are technical. Right now I am thinking I want to tie in the technical part with the presentation of the words. But this was a real positive surprise entry.

  I was unable to find some font examples for you. But I can tell you I prefer the font in # 19 better than any of the ones you submitted. And I feel like the font is key to the logo so right now I would favor what is going on in # 19.

For the logo words/name, I am trying to settle on one of these options:

Of course, I am not asking all entries use all examples of these. But as things narrow down, I will be asking for variations to settle on one final entry.

  Yes, I think that looks better in my opinion. Also note the words should be RUBY GENIUS. I think you have it misspelled in # 20. I also think you should experiment with the light bulb a little more per my other notes. I wonder how a diamond shaped ruby would compare as the bulb versus the round version you have. It might be worth a try.
  
  I am also interested in seeing someone come up with a light bulb that is a ruby color. I am envisioning something a little more art like for that like:

Since a light bulb is also a universal symbol for 'genius', a ruby colored light bulb might also be a good concept.

To clarify for the t-shirt test, too many colors would make it very expensive to print t-shirts. The best design would have only one or two colors to it. A simple design will win over something too elegant and unnecessarily complicated.
