Contest Brief

l am in need of a new logo, I have used an online logo design company who have produced two logos for me, neither of which I am totally happy with.

The company name is "Shockwave Photography" and undertakes a range of photography challenges, we do not specialise in anything in particular. This is a very small company and consists of two male photographers so I do not want anything too feminine when it comes to the logo.

I have attached my current logo for reference, I do quite like the concept but I don't think that the execution is not as good as it could be. I am looking for a very professional image which is extremely well produced and clean. I am sick of designs which are poorly produced or 'adapted' from other logos, I'm looking for originality professionalism and quality.

The logo should be aesthetically pleasing, I will want to use it on a website, business cards, signage and embroidered on polo shirts. It also must look good on both light and dark backgrounds, as I will use it as a watermark on some photographs.

I will want the .psd of the final image(s).

I look forward to reviewing your submissions. Whilst this contest will not be sealed, submissions that appear to be copied from another artist will not win. I am looking for something unique and professionally produced... I hope one of you out there can help me.

    Just wanted to include an update, there are some really great logos, one thing I'm struggling with is finding one with a font I like and I'm not sure how best to guide you all. I've been looking through a lot of logos and the one I like are generally a sans serif style font but have something extra to them, they aren't just the name of the company written out (I hope that makes sense). I can try and add some links to logos with fonts I like if that would help anyone?

    Thanks everyone for your work, there are some really nice logos being produced. I was a little worried at first, but the quality of the work just keeps getting better. Far from having nothing to choose from I think I'm going to struggle to differentiate. between some of them because it's so close. Thank you all for your efforts and taking the time to enter the contest.

    Hi again! Just upladed two entries ( #70 and #71) based on your current logo. I'd appreciate some feedback. In general, try to tell us (designers) whether our entries are going in right direction (and what can be done better) or that the direction should be abandoned.     Ahh, one more question: is the requirement that logo should be clean and ready for different media (screen, paper, shirts etc.) still valid? Please keep in mind that logos with gradients, blurs and tiny elements do not meet this requirement (ask the first DTP professional you meet).

      Yes, this is still valid. It'd be nice to have a logo which works across all formats or is adaptable to achieve that. I have tried to keep this in mind when selecting images. I think all images I have not rejected excluding perhaps one would work in this instnce.

    Since you will use logo on site, shirts, business cards... i hope that source vector format is better idea (.ai, rather than .psd)? Also, your old logo is quite good, especially symbol, with great usage of negative space, it is great idea and my question is - could we keep it, or you want completely different design?

      You could keep the existing logo and just do a better job of producing it, I am happy with the text in my existing logo and whilst I like the concept of the initials in the camera, I think that it looks quite amateurish in it's execution. So you could either come up with something new or just improve on what I have if you think you can take it to the next level.

      Oh, and the reason I ask for .psd is that I am familiar with Photoshop basics so will be able to make simple amendments myself like changing colour etc.

    #43 #44 - I love the fact that these images are unique and like the concept, thank you for taking the time to produce these. I'm not sure about the colour scheme, the green doesn't work too well for me and I wonder how this would look embroidered on a polo shirt but I think this is the best work I've seen so far, very creative!

      Apologies JuanRodriguezle, the copied images were relating to the work submitted by some other designers, your image was not copied from other.
