Contest Brief

I have a webpage which need to be redesigned. There is a demand for more vibrant and modern design.
The screen has following sections:
1. Questions ( will appear one by one)
2. Possible answers (can be text, choice, date or combo, choice is presented as set of buttons to be clicked. as soon one choice is made(a button is clicked) next question appears.
3, Rebuttals related to question. ( extra information related to the question) * not in old screenshot.
4. previous questions (so user can go back)
5 Customer related information
6. Control section ( with button supporting pause/break, etc., end survey)
7. Status of the user (connected/disconnected/idle/Active)

Attaching one old design and a new suggested screen design, which is not liked much.

Please suggest new design with color scheme.
