Contest Brief

Hi Everyone,

we are looking for an experienced designer to help us in the design of a new OSX/iOS application.

The application is (temporarily) named DualDisplay and it will turn an iPad into a secondary monitor for OS X, over USB.

We need the following:

1. A logo for the application to be used both as the OS X app logo and the iOS app logo. The logo will be provided both in a source, scalable format (e.g. psd svg) and in PNG formats with sizes as required to release OS X and iOS app in the apple store (we can provide you with the required sizes). Logos have to be square.

2. A smaller logo to be used as a tray icon for the OS X app, based on the “bigger” logo. Tray icons must be black over transparent and be provided in 16x16 and 32x32 png format. We can provide you with examples of these logos that we have available for other apps.

3. A suggested window layout for the OS X app. The OS X app has only a button, on/off button to turn the iPad display on and off, a dropdown for selecting the iPad to be used, and a section for showing the iPad information (model, resolution…) We want it to be as attractive as possible. The deliverable for this point will be an image or image flow (in any format) showing the proposed design.

4. A suggested flow and storyboard layout for the iOS app. The only thing that needs design here is the window to be shown when the iPad is not connected to the OS X app. The deliverable for this point will be an image or image flow (in any format) showing the proposed design.

For inspiration, here are 2 apps that do something similar:

http://www.avatron.com/applications/air-display/

Note the main difference is that we use USB to transmit images to the iPad while these use wifi, in case that helps you come up with a cool logo ;)

Please contact us for more information.

Regards,

Alberto

Please do not use the apple icon/logo in your design, it is against Apple's terms of service.

Hi there, we like the design a lot, the contest is yours. We would like to ask you however to: 1. If you will be able to provide us with the rest of items asked in the contest (a smaller version of the logo, b&w for using it in the task bar of OS X) and a mockup for the iPad single screen (this obviously after we release the payment). and 2. We were wondering if you could also provide us with an alternate version where the name of the app shows "DualDisplay" instead of the "media player icon" (client wants to see how it looks). Thanks

Hi again, I have awarded you the contest and released the money. But I need some more stuff (e.g. the small logo of 32x32 has to be in black and white, and I also want and improved mockup). I will open a new project if necessary. Please contact me in Skype (aldoilsant) or my email (aldoilsant@gmail.com) for further discussion

Yes, an "icon"... just found out that there is an important difference between these 2 concepts!

Is it a logo or Icon?
