Contest Brief

At Freelancer we are always challenging boundaries and pushing the limits when it comes to design and technology. Our office in the heart of Sydney needs to reflect those ideals by providing a creative and fun working environment. To help us achieve that goal, we would love your help in creating a new carpet layout design. We have chosen a supplier and they have provided a brochure of the tile designs available. We need your help to take those pre-defined tile designs and create an awesome layout. All layout designs must be created using ONLY the attached carpet tile examples from our supplier.

What were looking for:

- Using the Multi Tile design system link provided in the "Additional Resources" attachment, create a carpet design scheme for our entire office using the supplied floor plan
- We want carpet designs using a specific color and pattern for our entire office (minus the conference rooms), refer to the floor plan and the colour palette attachments.
- The carpet designs can be of various patterns and colors based on where they are in the office but should follow a consistent theme.
- We do not want any blue in the design.
- The only area where we would like to have the generally black and perhaps gold design as seen in the example entry is the entertainment area.
- Our conference rooms already have carpet and can be seen in the floor plan attachment. The carpet next to these areas should be more neutral in color and pattern so as not to contrast with those carpets.
- Entries should be presented similar to the attached "Entry Example" which shows the carpet designs against the areas of the office where they would be placed.
- Additionally we have walkthrough of our office up on dropbox - check out the link in the "Additional Resources" attachment

Conditions to win:

- Entries should present carpet design solutions for the entire office. using the provider we specified (See the link in the Additional Resources attachment)
- Entries should be of similar quality and presentation to the "Entry Example" attachment.
- Entries can be presented in image format, with final files to be in PDF, DOC and/or image files.
- Entries not providing solutions for the entire office presented per area will be rejected

Prizes:

- We will awarding the top freelancer with the contest prize of $500.
- We will also be awarding a runner up freelancer with $250.
- Your work will be used in our actual office in Sydney and possibly our other offices around the globe!
- Both freelancers will be applicable for follow up work to help us to develop the design further.

Hi! Tell me please, should I make all 11 pages to present my entry? Can I just lay the designs on your whole floor plan and provide the textual description?

We would like to see the patterns you choose presented similar to the attached example. The design system includes a room visualization tool that you can use for this.

Is it just in my opinion. Or the design system shows the tiling way larger than it actually is?

Hello, do you need a 3D version of the floor plan?(can we ignore furnitures?), and yes I'm not sure about the presentation, what should we talk about?

This is a very bad example of contest I have been experiencing - https://www.freelancer.com/contest/Furnishing-a-living-room-279069.html - with the client not responding and choosing an average winner, things that would make anyone ask "what is the point of having a competition then, and not have a simple job posting?". How do you make sure this is not going to happen again?

If the contest holder chooses not to reply then that it their right. They may get better entries if they do respond which is what we encourage. Is there anything specific with this contest that you need help with?
