Contest Brief
I have recently run a feedback survey and decided to give the culinary hemp seed oil the brand name of:
"Vitality Hemp"
Working on a strapline along the lines of:
"Healthy, Sustainable, Community"
To begin with, the primary product is going to be the cold pressed hempseed oil. I'm looking to explore and test different markets and sales methods. Generally, I'm hoping to sell B2B to other food producers & distributors wholesale as this will cut out a lot of time and costs incurred with going the retail route.
Having said this, I also want to try out these infusions on a farmers market retail platform. Chilli and herb infusions especially as these may be attractive when presented in nice small sized brown bottles with nice labels.
So, at the moment it would make sense to consider the logo and the product label as the most upfront requirement in terms of design.
Situated in the South Downs National Park in West Sussex. The area has a rich Saxon and agricultural heritage. I'm hoping to send out a Folk story kind of vibe. If this can be worked into a simple Scandinavian style, then I think it could be a nice and unique approach.
The whole 'Racing Green' colour would seem to ring true with the ecological benefits and also as it's a quintessentially British colour. I think it makes sense to focus on the sustainable, British-grown provenance (especially for the short-term whilst I build the reputation locally). The quality of the product is high and I aim to hit the premium oil market.
I want to keep the 'land ethic' at the heart of what we do. It's important to me to encourage a more symbiotic relationship with nature. Education and the economic system is so far detached from a true consciousness of land. I'd like to reduce the separation from nature which has been derived through numerous middlemen, processes and today's gadgets.
Ultimately, I am building up the business by enrolling more farmers to grow. This is to form the basis of a co-operative model with a strong foundation based on enriching the local soil.
I really like The Kernel brewery's brown paper labels:

And, I like the Swedish Fjallraven fox too!
I hope that this makes some sense. If not, then just let me know!
Thanks for taking the time to give this a shot!!
