Mascot Design for an IT Company
- Status: Closed
- Prize: $99
- Entries Received: 17
Contest Brief
Design Brief:
You are required to design a Mascot for an IT Company which will be used in Print Promotions, Animated Videos, E-learning content, in any internal event, etc.
You are free to work on both non human and human characters, doesn't matter. There are no restrictions to that. The character should be able to relate in some manner to the IT Guys. It should have that unique creative flavour to it.
Be as creatively simple - as you can. Simple Creativity - hits very hard.
Things to keep in mind.
There are two points you need to keep in mind though.
a). The character should be simple enough so that any body in the company from a peon to the CEO or Founder should be able to connect with it. Draw it. Have fun with it.
b). The character should be simple enough to be animated quickly. (This is very important to keep in mind)
Submission Criteria
You will be required to submit two things in a submission. They are:
a). The Character Development Sketches rough - your exploration sheets. These will be Pencil sketches. I should be able to see the character doing different things in different poses/views. Please see "example 01.jpg" , "example 02.jpg", "example 03.jpg", "example 04.jpg", "example 05.jpg", attached as a reference to this.
b).Character turn around sheet, for reference please see "Character Turnaround.jpg" , "Character Turnaround 02.jpg".
Please start by submitting rough sketches quickly - so that i may be able to tell you whether you are moving in the right direction or not. Fast turnaround is required. I will increase the budget may folds if i see interesting entries coming in.
Also, the top entries would be required to submit brief animated pilots.
Thank you and Good Luck!

My relations with this contest are over, as well as my interference with your personality!
P.S. I always read VERY carefully :) That's why I know you just change/add this last sentence to contest brief. All the best! Stan.- 10 years ago

i must say you are very arrogant, and disrespectful towards other artists. If i want i can even report you. So next time refrain from using such uncomfortable sentences and taunts. One should not be so proud of his work - that he forgets where he started from.

I'm sorry, are you talking about me!? Please show me where I said anything disrespectful to any of the others competitors? Oh and when you talk about disrespect, please have in mind yourself and how you want to cheat here, by announcing one condition on your contest and then add extra work according to select the winner :) You want to report me, please feel free to do so, but don't forget that you are against rules here, not me ;) I can report your contest as inappropriate. Where I started from, haha, you can't know that my friend, neither what was the cost to be what I'm now.
With all my respect to other artist here,

yes according to you that is enough. If i were in your place i would also have said the same thing. But, the client wants to see the character in atleast two situations. i still think you have a great chance, if you can submit one of the 5 situations.Since you have submitted one before - i can present him two putting both of them together. It can be a small animation. See if you can reconsider this. Thank you.

As I said before, if your client want's to see more- he/she has to pay more. The contest was for mascot design and that's what we all made. And as I mentioned already it's quite unfair to announce contest for mascot and then to ask for extra work regarding to select a winner.

but i would say someone who showcases how there character would look in a situation - has chances of gaining a little more confidence. Thank you

Is there a chance for someone who do not willing to complete the two animated scenarios to win this contest? Just asking if it's worth to wait or you already know the winner- just waiting for her to show you the animations? Thanks!

Hi, Please see my answers in line
1. Actually no i don't have a preference about how long it should be. You are the best judge to show it.
2. Actually i don't want the mascot to be interacting with any other character in the animation. Therefore, the best would be to make him commit some mistake and then show the correct way of doing it. Just an idea.
3. If you choose Physical Security, one sub topic will be fine.

Hey again, I have a few quick questions about the animated situations: 1) Do you have a preference about how long you want each clip of a situation to be? 2) Do you want the mascot to be fixing a problem or making a mistake? 3) For the physical security situation, would you like all three of the sub-topics or just one? Thanks in advance!

Hello Everyone - please leave me a message saying who all can animate the mascot in 2D. I will need to see some 2D animation tests with the mascot that you have created. I am asking this so that i can finalise on the animator too.. for this ongoing project...
