Recreate and Update Existing Logo

Contest Brief
The original artwork for the attached logo has been lost. It needs to be recreated into an Illustrator file.
I'm also looking for someone who can (in addition to re-creating that logo) - give a new look to this old logo.
The logo is for a product that packages chemotherapy in a small nanocell - and delivers it to the body without any side-effects.
The existing owners are very fond of the old logo - so it should try to incorporate the same elements, but maybe with a fresher, more modern look.
