Contest Brief

I have a big image 200x200px with product logo (it is a compass).
It is attached as "kompas.png"

I need 32x32px and 48x48px icons as well as a 16x16px icon, which will match the original image to some degree. But if you simply resize/resample the image, it will not be any good, because the result will be either blurred, pixelate, or bad looking in general. I need you to redraw and simplify the image in the way that it will look awesome on 32px and 48px, and it will look good on 16px. I believe that each size will need a completely new redraw.

The most important is 32px. Please upload your samples on various backgrounds, since the icon will be placed on users desktops and it needs to look on white, on black, on #2864A8, etc.

If you think that it is impossible to draw a 16px variant, I'm attaching another compass icon (compass_small.png), which is a wrong color, do not use this image, this small image is attached only for you to see that it actually *is* possible to draw very tiny images which look reasonably good and sharp but not too much sharp.

This is a project for someone who specializes on tiny image icons. If you're just a graphics designer who works with photos or big graphics, this may not be a project for you. I have very sharp eyes and I see each pixel so it is very hard to satisfy me.

Make sure to remove the bottom shadow, and make the background transparent.
I am not attaching original PSD sources for the big image because I believe it is of no use, you need to redraw it from scratch anyway.

If you upload your samples to this contest, make sure to upload high quality PNG images, no JPG since if I see any sign of jpeg compression, I will not like the image and I will not accept your sample. Please upload samples on different backgrounds. Thank you very much for participating in this contest.

Interesting project and very detailed and understandable description. BUT ...
Unfortunately, all the images are automatically converted to jpeg format.
It will be very difficult to assess the quality of the icons 32 and 16 pixels in their real size. They will have compression artifacts.

Nonetheless. You can review all applications for your competition and make sure that none of them is nary image in PNG format.
PNG you can only get when to select a winner and he will send you to the source files.
In any case, I do not insist on anything. Just wanted to give you some friendly advice.

I understood your advice, thank you for it. I am currently also in communication with freelancer staff again regarding this since I can confirm all the samples are JPG and their server indeed converts it to JPG regardless of the original image format.
