Contest Brief
Brief:
The Competition includes designing a full concept for a restaurant & Cafe ( Warm Contemporary Design) it should activate the sense take harrods food court into consideration, but do not rely on food retail as a primary.
The Space will include the following:
Dinning area's : Smoking and non smoking separated in two zone away from each other.
Th kitchen is open kitchen 25 to 30 % of the total space area, shall include prep areas, bakery, preparation area's for starters and main dishes, chocolate and cake zone (should be very active and lively) chiller and freezer rooms, and dishwashing area, and stores, bar area for beverages non alcoholic.
Smoking area will serve Shisha.
a kids area away from the smoking section completely on other side.
The seating area should be comfortable and not based on dinning only, lounges but not many.
The idea is to enter the restaurant and develop a wow factor.
we will need at least 4 concept angles 3d. each element highlighted above should be represented.
Think of the space and how to transform it into a 5 star restaurant, a full concept should be developed, with description, a menu is based on platters, sandwiches and starters. as well as to italian food but not as main, you can say its an international menu. all food will prepared through an open kitchen, focus on designing a concept around live food stations.
This is more than a dinning experience, it should be a destination. the idea is to cater for hospitality and entertainment, in a lounge dinning area.
you can include a small organic garden, but very minimal as a feature, Tree of life for example. along a waiting area.
For further details post concerns we will develop further on the concept.
Kindly see attached space drawing for design, this is the only available files. use them to develop the concept. are highlighted in red.
Location is confidential and country as well, winner will receive further information and additional work.
Be creative, do not build limitation, everything is doable.

Are you sure about your choice ? Others were obviously waiting in the concept phase to be confirmed by you before moving to the 3D Phase . But if this is all you expected then Okay .

That is really sad. Always remember to upload whatever progress is available at least two days before the deadline. This will help you avoid last minute technical glitches. You can always upload new additions again and even if you face such issues you will still have your early ideas submitted. Wish you the very best in future.

if being to 16 hours to complete time of the competition and the highest rating is three stars, maybe something not necessarily enjoy it. Then I think we need to see more proposals. Maybe four days extend the delivery time for new proposal to meet him, I really think you will be pleased with what you may see ..... it is my humble opinion. Regards.

seating and how many people you can serve is key, hear we should accommodate 250. the kitchen should only make 25% of the total space, the kitchen should be open kitchen glass, and you can use the front for attractive food displays take harrods as an example sections for bakery, and others for meat and vegetables and fruits and sweets.

yes all together, a few lounges, and more tables of four, which can be joined or altered as per reservation, stools should not be a main criteria, as the culture is more lounging.

there isn't enough space for 250 places unless there is a mezzanine which is not seen on the attached plans.

I have only two question : 1- how much is the height of the restaurant ? 2 - is the external wc and washbasins in the current plan are enough to serve the restaurant ? I think there is need to add some.. specially for kids .. what do you think ? regards.

we are sorry for the delay in response, however to clarify things more, please do not worry about elevations and sections so much now, use the drawings as a guideline to design a concept and layout only. focus on the feel and look of the space, seating and lounges, smoking area and non smoking, open kitchen and food displays, and kids area next to cake and sweats section.

the design should be modern contemporary, the entrance should be inviting u can use the kitchen in the back ground as an attraction, live stations and food displays, also focus on the deserts and cakes sections, a kids area, and smoking and non smoking, consider a lounge and tables for seating. sorry for the lack of drawings this is what we have at the moment, dont worry about the exact sizes, only use the space as a guide line to how to lay out the restaurant.

there is no elevation attached.
I noticed that there is a mezzanine there so a section would be good to have

there is a mezzanine, but we are only concerned with the ground floor now, un fortunately, the drawing attached is all we have, dont worry about exact sizes now, we are looking more for the concept and theme of how you would set up things and hopw it would look like. pay attention to the deserts section and the seating design and kitchen flow. latter once we settle on the idea we will develop further, we are sorry about the lack of info, it is what has been provided to us, hope you understand.
