Contest Brief

I am after an illustration to use in my ice cream shop in a small beachside town in Victoria, Australia.

I will be putting the illustration on the ice cream cups and take home tubs. I will also use it on one of the signs outside the shop with the hope that it will draw the eye of kids in particular.

The subject is to be a child or children fishing from a jetty and on the end of the line is an ice cream.

I’ve selected a colour palette that will be the basis for the shop design and fittings and whilst I wouldn’t want you to keep to this palette it will show you the hues that we are looking at – sort of a muddy pastel range, emphasizing the natural organic ingredients in the gelato. The colours are based on the Porter’s paint colours, Pretty in Pink, Birthday Candle, Glass, Panna Cotta and Old Stone Wall.

You can see the style of simple, whimsical drawings we are after by looking at our inspiration - the gelato store Dri Dri.

  I've had a look at your portfolio and I think you are very clever. However I am looking for an outline styled illustration similar to the ones shown on the Dri Dri Gelato website. The ones I saw in your portfolio were a very different style to that, but you decide after looking at those ones.
