I have come up with an idea that I've proved to work which involves comparing true odds of a particular betting event happening (horse/greyhound racing) to the odds of that of a bookmaker to see which horse/greyhound will return a positive expected value when backing said horse/greyhound on a betting exchange. This however is tedious and I would like to automate it. I would like to analyse greyhound racing results from Betfair. Betfair provide the means to download the results in what I believe to be a compressed .tar file - and I have extracted the results of all races from June-Sept 2023 initially. I have tried to follow their instructions as to how to extract the data using 7zip (see attached) and then their historical data to convert it all into Excel in a format that would allow me to analyse the results data - specifically the race track, distance, race class/type, the BSP (Betfair Starting Price) of the winner etc. - but it seems to be beyond my skills! I have Greyhound Racing data for many tracks in separate sheets per year, these being 2018 all the way through to 2023. I need this separated into individual sheets per track for UK, Australian and New Zealand venues. I attach an example for UK venue Crayford, a list of the tracks/abbreviation and also a sample of the 2023 data, the other years files are over 25MB so cannot attach.
