I am developing a self-propelled, ball-shaped reconnaissance robot that must roll freely indoors and outdoors across mixed terrain, stream or log data, and return safely for re-use. I need a complete, production-ready engineering package and a functional prototype. Scope of work The robot has to propel itself by internal actuation, maintain stability while turning, and withstand bumps, dust, and light rain. It should carry a modular sensor suite for video, audio, and future environmental probes, then transmit data in real time to a ground station or mobile app. Navigation can be fully autonomous or tele-operated, but it must include obstacle avoidance and a “return-to-home” routine. Please cover every discipline—mechanical, electronic, firmware, and software—and keep manufacturability in mind. Deliverables (all required) • Complete 3D CAD and 2D fabrication drawings of the spherical chassis, drive system, and sealing features • Bill of materials with supplier links and estimated costs • Schematics, PCB layout (if custom), and wiring diagrams • Embedded code (Arduino, STM32, Raspberry Pi, or equivalent) plus ROS nodes or custom control software • Computer-vision or sensor-fusion scripts for navigation and data capture • Assembly guide, calibration procedures, and maintenance notes • Fully built, tested prototype with video demonstration of indoor and mixed-terrain outdoor operation Acceptance criteria 1. Prototype rolls continuously for at least 30 minutes on one charge, switching between smooth floor and grass/gravel. 2. Live HD video feed and onboard recording work without dropout over 30 m line-of-sight. 3. Robot completes a 10 m outbound run, avoids three random obstacles, and returns to the start point autonomously. 4. Documentation is detailed enough for a third party to reproduce the build. If you have experience with spherical robots, reaction-wheel or pendulum drives, ROS, and ruggedized enclosures, I’d like to see examples.
