From your photos and CAD I can see this is a handheld device housing a touchscreen, PCBs, and an optical sensor assembly in the dome. The refinement work is two things happening at once: the aesthetic tweaks (parting-line placement, surface transitions, fillet consistency) that make it read as premium, and the structural engineering (wall thickness tuning, ribbing behind flat panels to prevent warp, boss sizing for fasteners, and draft for tooling) that keep it surviving daily use. Both have to happen together because a rib in the wrong place shows through a smooth exterior surface.
