modern and clean is achievable in cad quickly. what takes the skill is making it castable, and that is where jewellery models usually come back from the caster. a few things i build in from the start rather than fixing later. minimum wall and section thickness, because a crisp edge that looks confident on screen becomes a knife edge that will not fill or will wear through in a year of daily use. consistent metal volume, since gold is sold by weight and a design that quietly doubles the volume doubles your cost per piece. and the inside of the band shaped for comfort, because a flat interior is what makes a ring feel wrong even when it fits. if there are stones, the settings need real seats and enough metal behind them, sized to actual stone dimensions rather than approximated, or the setter reworks your model by hand and the pieces stop matching each other. i would also want to know your target weight per ring and your ring size range, because a design scaled naively from a size six to a size twelve stops looking like the same piece. what metal and karat, are there stones, and do you have sketches or references to work from?
