I already have a full Feng Shui layout for my new apartment and want to start with the office. The functional zones, element placement, and energy flow are settled. Where I still need help is with creating a cohesive design that balances functionality and beauty in a small space with no natural light. The room dimensions are as follows: it’s a rectangular space with 10-foot ceilings. I’d like to utilize the height effectively. Here’s what I envision: • An under-counter section about 4 feet tall by 4 feet wide to roll my folded Pilates reformer under daily. Storage above this section can be open format, allowing colors or wallpaper to show through. A textile could be used to hide the reformer when not in use. • I’m considering Ikea for storage solutions but am open to creative ideas like peel-and-stick liners inside shelves or box openings. • A standing desk will likely be placed in a specific spot, and the rest of the storage can be designed around it. • Adequate lighting is essential—full-spectrum light preferred. Ceiling lights or sconces can be installed if needed, ensuring sufficient illumination for work and Zoom calls. • On the wall in front of my desk, I’d like framed inspirational items that motivate me for success. • The doorway to the living room is covered by a tall gray loose-weave silk curtain, creating a gentle separation while maintaining flow between rooms. • The central area should remain free for easy access to bring out the Pilates reformer when needed. • The background for Zoom calls should be thoughtfully designed to ensure it is professional and visually appealing. Here’s what I’m looking for: • An interior designer experienced in small spaces, lighting solutions, and storage optimization. • A cohesive color palette based on rich blues, silvers, and whites, including exact paint codes or digital color values. • Suggestions for complementary trim, textiles, lighting fixtures, and statement accessories that reinforce those tones. • A simple mood board (PDF or PNG is fine) to visualize how everything ties together. • A short shopping or sourcing list—just key items and where to find them online or locally. The office has no cabinetry or shelving yet but needs to feel lush and rich while respecting the Feng Shui map. It should evoke beauty and boldness while being functional for work. The only furniture that needs to remain is the standing desk and a small cabinet measuring 14 inches wide, 5 feet tall, and 18 inches deep. Digital mock-ups using Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, or similar tools are perfect; no need for full architectural drawings. I’ll provide photos and measurements once we start.
