We're looking for a fractional Managing Director to run the day-to-day business of Layerline ([login to view URL]), a global 3D printing marketplace selling printers, filament, and accessories worldwide. You'll be the person in charge — coordinating all departments, driving execution, and making sure the business grows. The founder stays involved at strategic level, but you run the show. Layerline is the immediate focus, with the role expanding to other ventures in our portfolio over time. Freelancers only — no agencies. Flexible, ongoing engagement with potential to grow into a full-time role and long-term partnership. --- ABOUT LAYERLINE • Global 3D printing marketplace — 100+ products (printers, filament, parts & accessories) • Worldwide shipping, competitive pricing, 2-year warranty • Based in the Netherlands with a US entity, selling globally • Target audience: hobbyist makers, prosumers, small and medium-sized businesses • Custom-built platform with AI-first approach • Part of a broader portfolio of technology and e-commerce ventures • Distributed teams across developing countries (Egypt, India, and others) --- WHAT WE NEED General Management • Running the day-to-day business — you are the operational CEO • Setting priorities, making decisions, and driving execution across all departments • Translating the founder's vision into actionable plans and results • Reporting on business performance to the founder on a regular basis • Being the central point of coordination for all team members and external partners Revenue & Growth • Owning revenue targets and ensuring the business hits them • Overseeing marketing, sales, and customer success efforts • Identifying and pursuing new growth opportunities (new products, markets, channels, partnerships) • Pricing strategy and margin optimization Operations & Execution • Overseeing supply chain, logistics, and fulfillment • Managing supplier and partner relationships • Ensuring operational efficiency and cost control • Building and optimizing processes as the business scales Team & People • Coordinating and managing fractional team members and contractors • Hiring, onboarding, and performance management as the team grows • Building a strong culture across a distributed, international team • Being the go-to person for the team on day-to-day matters Tech & Product • Working closely with the technical team to prioritize product development • Understanding the tech stack and development process (you don't need to code, but you need to speak the language) • Ensuring tech efforts align with business goals Strategy • Contributing to overall business strategy alongside the founder • Financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting • Market analysis and competitive positioning • Preparing the business for future fundraising and scaling --- WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR • 7+ years experience in general management, operations, or business leadership • Proven experience running or scaling an e-commerce business • Strong all-rounder — comfortable with marketing, sales, operations, finance, and people • Results-driven — you own the P&L and think like an owner • Excellent communicator — can align and motivate a distributed team • Self-starter who doesn't need hand-holding — you run the business, not wait for instructions • Tech-savvy — you understand tech products and can work effectively with developers Bonus: • Experience in niche/technical product e-commerce or hardware • Familiarity with the 3D printing or maker community • Previous MD, GM, or COO experience at a startup or scale-up • International business experience (EU/US/global) • Experience managing remote/distributed teams across time zones • Vibe coding mindset — can use AI tools to solve problems and automate • Entrepreneurial background — you've built something yourself before --- HOW WE WORK • Remote, flexible hours • Full ownership — you run it like it's your own business • Direct line to the founder for strategic decisions • Long-term relationship with the right person --- TO APPLY 1.
