Dating Site Instant Messenger Jabber Client

This is for a dating/personals site on a LAMP server, and we need a customized instant messenger client with some specialized features. From what we have been told, the open source Jabber project ([login to view URL]) has most of what we need available as free plugins and code, but we need a tailored client. If you can alter one of the open source Jabber clients to do the job, that would be fine with us. We would prefer a cross-platform client.
