I’m looking for an experienced KiCad/analog electronics designer to recreate a relatively simple 1974 analog “Bouncing Ball Computer” circuit as a modern, fabrication-ready PCB. I have the original published schematic, complete component list, documentation of a known schematic correction, and photos/information from a successfully working prototype built from the corrected design. The goal is a faithful reproduction rather than a redesign, using readily available modern equivalents where obsolete components require substitution. I’d prefer through-hole components and a relatively spacious layout that retains some of the character of the original electronics. Work would include schematic capture in KiCad, verification of component/pin substitutions, PCB layout, ERC/DRC checks, and fabrication-ready Gerber/drill files. I would also like the complete editable KiCad project and BOM delivered at completion. Experience with analog circuits, op-amps, relays, vintage electronics, and KiCad would be preferred. I can provide the original article/schematic and additional project details before work begins.

I've reviewed your plan to recreate the 1974 bouncing-ball analog computer in KiCad with a fabrication-ready PCB. I’ll focus on faithful schematic capture, careful substitution of obsolete parts with modern equivalents, and a spacious, through-hole layout that preserves the circuit’s character while meeting manufacturing goals. I’ll deliver a complete KiCad project, ERC/DRC checks, Gerber/drill files, and a fully editable BOM. The workflow prioritizes verifiable, tested signals and maintainable routing, with a bias toward using readily available components and simple, robust layout practices. To align expectations, I have a targeted question: Should we pursue near-exact schematic fidelity with modern through-hole substitutes, or are tolerance and component substitutions acceptable to improve reliability while preserving the circuit's vintage behavior? Hi, I understand you need a faithful recreation of the 1974 Bouncing Ball Computer while keeping the original circuit character and analog behavior. I can recreate the schematic in KiCad and carefully verify every component, pinout, and modern substitute against the original design. I’ll use through-hole components and a spacious, clean PCB layout while avoiding unnecessary redesigns. I’ll pay particular attention to the analog circuitry, op-amps, relays, and any obsolete components requiring modern equivalents. I’ll verify the corrected schematic against your working prototype information before starting the PCB layout. I’ll complete ERC/DRC checks and provide fabrication-ready Gerber and drill files. You’ll receive the complete editable KiCad project, verified BOM, footprints, and manufacturing documentation. I have 10+ years of experience in PCB design, analog electronics, schematic capture, and fabrication-ready layouts. Could you provide the original schematic, component list, and the known correction so I can review the circuit before starting? I’m ready to preserve the original design faithfully while making it practical to manufacture with currently available components.

Hi there, I have carefully reviewed your requirements for recreating the 1974 analog “Bouncing Ball Computer” as a faithful, fabrication-ready KiCad design. My background in mechatronics, analog electronics, PCB design, reverse engineering, and hardware prototyping is well suited to this project. I have already worked with op-amp circuits, relays, through-hole components, vintage-style electronics, component substitutions, and schematic-to-PCB recreation. I can handle the complete workflow in KiCad, including schematic capture, applying the documented correction, verifying obsolete-part replacements and pinouts, creating a spacious through-hole layout, ERC/DRC checks, BOM preparation, and final Gerber/drill production files. Given that you already have the original schematic, component list, correction notes, and working-prototype references, I can move quickly while preserving the original circuit character and behavior. Send me the original article, schematic, correction details, and prototype references, and I can start immediately. Best regards, Samuel tshibangu

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hi, I can recreate the 1974 Bouncing Ball Computer as a faithful, fabrication-ready KiCad design while preserving the character and through-hole nature of the original circuit. Since you already have the published schematic, component list, correction information, and a working prototype reference, I would focus on accurately translating and verifying the original design rather than unnecessarily redesigning it. I’ll carefully review the corrected schematic, check every component value and connection, and identify modern replacements where original parts are obsolete. For substitutions, I’ll verify pinouts and relevant electrical characteristics—particularly for op-amps, transistors, relays, and any timing or analog sections where component behavior could affect the circuit. The workflow would include: Corrected schematic capture in KiCad Component/substitution and pinout verification Spacious through-hole PCB placement and routing Analog/power/relay layout review ERC/DRC and schematic-to-PCB verification Gerbers, drill files, BOM and complete editable KiCad project I’ll keep the layout practical and serviceable rather than making it unnecessarily compact, while still following modern fabrication requirements. Please send the original article/schematic, corrected design notes, and prototype documentation. I can review the circuit first and identify any obsolete components or substitution issues before proceeding with the PCB.

Hi, I’d be glad to recreate the 1974 Bouncing Ball Computer as a clean, fabrication-ready KiCad project while preserving the behavior and character of the original design. My background is in electronics and PCB engineering, including analog circuits, schematic capture, component selection, through-hole layouts, and manufacturing preparation. I’ll carefully work from the original published schematic, component list, correction notes, and working-prototype information. Before routing, I’ll verify every component value, polarity, pinout, and footprint, paying particular attention to obsolete parts and their modern equivalents so substitutions do not unintentionally change the circuit behavior. For the PCB, I’ll use a spacious through-hole layout with logical signal flow, accessible test points where useful, sensible grounding/power distribution, and practical placement of the op-amps, relays, and other analog circuitry. I’ll run KiCad ERC/DRC checks and review the fabrication outputs before delivery. The final package will include the complete editable KiCad project, schematic, PCB layout, verified BOM, Gerbers, drill files, and any notes documenting component substitutions or important design decisions. I can start by reviewing the original schematic and correction documentation and identifying any component/footprint issues before beginning the PCB layout. Regards,
