Job Description:
My idea is an app for iOS and Android that hosts a global community of tarot and oracle deck lovers. On this app, you can buy, sell, swap and review tarot and oracle decks.
Currently the only place to swap tarot decks is a large group on Facebook. Unfortunately for people like me who don’t use FB and don’t want to use Fb, that means there’s nowhere to do this.
Currently the only place you can post and read/see reviews of tarot decks is YouTube and Amazon. The frustrating thing about this is they’re all over the place and sometimes videos on YouTube get pushed down below the insane amount of other videos.
As a tarot and oracle reader and collector, I can attest that an app such as this is in high demand with the tarot community. We all need a “home base” (for lack of a better term) that tarot/oracle collectors and readers can collectively be present together online so that they can find what they need to and ask what they need to without the annoyance of having to go through multiple apps. Additionally, this would be an app for them that’s user-friendly, as well as an app that they feel comfortable and confident using. I used to be a part of fb and its tarot swap group and I was scammed multiple times. That will be prevented if swapped on this app.
Along with the convenience that Cardpool App will give, there will also be 2 features I would like to put in place that set Cardpool aside from any other tarot platform. The first feature is scam prevention. If someone is selling a deck and another one buys it, the buyer is charged at the time of sale and the funds are held in escrow until the purchaser receives the deck and closes the sale by checking off that they’ve received what they paid for, which in turn releases the funds to the seller. The second feature (my favorite, and I know will be everyone else’s) is to give tarot/oracle deck CREATORS an opportunity to post their new deck crowdfunding Kickstarter links along with a brief preview video that shows what kind of deck is being created for release. This is HUGE because finding tarot projects on the Kickstarter app is a major pain, as their app’s search filters are dreadful and I almost never can find what I’m looking for nor many new projects to explore.
Believe it or not, tarot/oracle deck collectors spend a LOT of money on decks and they’re extremely particular about their decks. Even if they buy a brand new in box deck but it’s box has one little smudge, they will include it in their review and it’s frowned on by collectors. So an app like Cardpool would be so helpful and more convenient than the tarot community has ever experienced. Cardpool could potentially even make make tarot/oracle deck collecting fun again. Which brings me to the point and conclusion.
Reading tarot for others is incredibly special and exhilarating in a spiritual way. Collecting tarot/oracle decks is beyond exciting because every deck offers a new perspective to your readings, and every new perspective makes you evolve into an even better reader for others, which is the #1 most important thing to readers. Currently buying and swapping tarot/oracle decks is stressful and all over the place online. It’s made the process of attaining a deck stressful, which takes away from enjoying the experience like it’s supposed to be. I want this app to bring the joy back to the tarot community and I wholeheartedly believe Cardpool will do just that.
