My current substrate-integrated waveguide antenna in ANSYS HFSS follows an IEEE reference design and already shows an acceptable S11 curve, yet the far-field pattern is still disappointing—the beamwidth is noticeably broader than the paper’s results. I tried several geometry tweaks and parametric sweeps on my own, but every iteration either left the beamwidth virtually unchanged or degraded the return loss. I need a fresh set of expert eyes to: • pinpoint why the beam is spreading • adjust the SIW slots, vias, and phase-feed configuration for tighter control • keep S11 below –10 dB across the operating band while you do it Please use HFSS (Optimetrics, scripting, or your preferred approach) to arrive at a cleaner pattern without introducing large side lobes. Deliverables - Updated HFSS project file, ready to simulate - Plots of the final S11 and 3-D radiation pattern highlighting the improved beamwidth - A concise technical note describing the changes, the reasoning, and any phase excitation settings needed to reproduce the results I will supply the existing HFSS file and the original IEEE paper on award. If you can demonstrate comparable or better beamwidth than the publication while preserving the current matching performance, the job is a success.

Hi there, As a meticulous and detail-oriented electrical engineer, I possess the skills you need to bring out the best in your SIW antenna. Backed by strong experience with ANSYS HFSS, I'll dive into your parametric sweeps and geometry tweaks, not only pinpointing the beam spreading issue but optimizing the entire setup for a more concise beamwidth. My proficiency in Optimetrics, scripting, and use of HFSS equipment will enable me to breathe new life into your project. With a well-done job, you can expect an upgraded HFSS project file, comprehensive plots of improved S11 and 3D radiation patterns displaying a clean beamwidth, plus an accurate technical note documenting all adjustments made and why they were necessary.
