We have approximately **8 million products already uploaded to our website/database**, and all products currently do not have images. We are looking for an experienced developer/automation engineer to build a **scalable automated product image sourcing, generation, matching and upload system**. The preferred image hierarchy is: 1. Find and use an accurate manufacturer/official product image where available. 2. If a suitable real image cannot be found, use AI-generated product-only images where appropriate. 3. Products with uncertain image matches should be flagged for review rather than automatically uploading an incorrect image. The system should use available product information such as product name, part number/SKU, manufacturer, brand, category and description to identify the correct image. ### Required Workflow The system should automatically: - Read products from our database/API. - Find or generate an appropriate product image. - Match and validate the image against the correct product/SKU/part number. - Detect duplicate or potentially incorrect images. - Optimize/compress images for web delivery. - Upload images to our server/cloud storage/CDN. - Update the correct product record with the image URL. - Skip products that have already been successfully processed. - Maintain processing status and logs. - Retry failed processing automatically. - Flag uncertain matches for manual review. ### Scale The complete database contains approximately **8 million products**. We do NOT expect all 8 million products to be processed immediately. The first phase should be a **Proof of Concept (POC)** using a smaller dataset. After validating image accuracy, matching accuracy, processing speed, infrastructure requirements and cost, the system should be capable of scaling to millions of products. ### Important This is **NOT a manual data-entry or manual image-upload project**. We need an automated and scalable technical solution. ### When Applying, Please Answer 1. How would you architect this system for 8 million products? 2. How would you verify that an image belongs to the correct product/part number? 3. How would you source manufacturer/official product images? 4. When would you use AI-generated images? 5. How would you detect duplicate or incorrect images? 6. What technology stack would you use? 7. How would you handle failures, retries and uncertain matches? 8. What cloud storage/CDN architecture would you recommend? 9. What would be the estimated processing cost per 100,000 or 1 million products? 10. Have you previously built a large-scale image/data-processing system? Please avoid generic proposals. Explain the architecture you would recommend specifically for this project. If the POC is successful, this can become a significantly larger long-term project.

Hi, CnEL India can build the automated product-image sourcing and matching system, starting with a measurable POC before scaling toward millions of products. Our methodology: * Read product data through the existing DB/API and create a queue-based processing pipeline. * Use SKU, manufacturer, brand, part number, category and product attributes for image discovery and matching. * Prioritize official/manufacturer sources and authorized/public image sources. * Validate candidate images using metadata, source confidence, visual similarity and product attributes. * Use AI-generated product-only images only when an appropriate real image cannot be sourced and generation is suitable. * Flag low-confidence matches instead of making unsafe automatic assignments. * Detect duplicates using image hashes/perceptual similarity. * Optimize images through resizing/compression and store them in scalable object storage/CDN. * Update the correct product record and maintain processing status, logs, retries and failure queues. * Support resumable processing so completed products are skipped. * Use Python with workers/queues, database/API integration and cloud storage based on the measured POC requirements. * Benchmark accuracy, throughput and infrastructure cost on an initial dataset before scaling. We would first build the POC, measure matching accuracy and processing cost, then finalize the architecture for controlled million-product processing.

Your 8 million products need images sourced from manufacturer data, validated against SKUs, generated where official sources miss, and uploaded at scale without losing uncertain matches to silent failure. You'd receive a POC pipeline that reads products, sources and validates images, flags mismatches for review, and logs every step so you can measure accuracy and cost before full deployment. I'd build a stateful worker system in Python that reads your database in batches, queries manufacturer APIs and image sources in priority order (official first, AI fallback second), validates each match against part number and category, then uploads to cloud storage and updates your records. Uncertain matches—low confidence scores, partial SKU hits, category misalignment—get flagged into a review queue instead of uploading blind. The pipeline maintains a processing ledger so retries skip what's done and cost tracking runs per 100K products. The failure point most teams miss: at 8M scale, image source APIs throttle hard and timeouts compound. I'd implement exponential backoff, a request queue that respects rate limits per source, and a local cache layer so repeated lookups (same brand, same category) don't re-hit APIs. That keeps your failure rate below 5% instead of the typical 70%+ timeout cascade. Ready to start with a 50K–100K product POC to validate matching accuracy and measure real cost per unit before scaling.

8 million SKUs without images is not an upload problem, it’s a decision-engine problem: source priority, confidence scoring, fallback generation, and safe rejection all have to work before scale matters. I’d approach this as a POC pipeline first: ingest a defined batch, normalize SKU/brand/manufacturer signals, attempt official-image retrieval, score the match, then only fall back to AI generation when the product type is suitable and confidence is still below threshold. I’ve worked on automation flows where the real challenge was not fetching assets but preventing wrong record-to-asset mapping, duplicate reuse, and silent failures at scale. For your case I’d recommend a queue-based architecture with processing states, retry logic, review buckets for uncertain matches, perceptual-hash duplicate checks, and object storage/CDN separation so the same foundation can later scale to millions. A few things would help me shape the POC correctly: - What platform/database currently stores the 8M products, and is access through API, direct DB, or both? - Do you already have any manufacturer feeds/supplier catalogs/licenses we can leverage for official images? - For the POC, roughly how many SKUs should be tested, and what accuracy threshold would you consider a pass?

Hello, Here are the answers of your questions 1. Architecture: An asynchronous, queue-driven worker system using RabbitMQ/SQS and distributed Docker nodes to process SKUs independently. 2. Verification: A multi-modal vision-language model (like CLIP) cross-checks visual attributes and OCR text against product metadata. 3. Sourcing: A tiered lookup querying GTIN/UPC databases (like Icecat) first, followed by official brand site scraping using rotating proxies. 4. AI Images: As a fallback strictly for generic, non-complex items when official product photography is unavailable. 5. Duplicates: By calculating perceptual hashes (pHash/dHash) for every image and cross-referencing them in a Redis cache. 6. Tech Stack: Python (FastAPI, OpenCV, PyTorch), Celery, Redis, PostgreSQL, Docker, and AWS/GCP infrastructure. I know there are couple of more question to answer & I do have questions too for you. Lets discuss in details. Thanks, Bharat

Hello, I am Karthik, an automation engineer with over 15 years of experience in building scalable systems. I am excited about the opportunity to automate the image population for your 8 million products. Proposed Solution Architecture: 1. Data Extraction: Utilize a robust API to read product data from your database. 2. Image Sourcing & Validation: - Implement web scraping and search APIs to source official images. - Use AI tools (e.g., DALL-E) for generating product images when none are found. - Employ image recognition algorithms to validate matches against SKU/part numbers. 3. Duplicate Detection: Implement hashing techniques to identify duplicates. 4. Image Processing: Use cloud functions to optimize images for web delivery. 5. Storage: Recommend using AWS S3 or Google Cloud Storage for reliable image hosting and CDN integration. 6. Error Handling: Design a retry mechanism with logging for failed processes and flag uncertain matches for manual review. Cost Estimate: Approximately ₹50,000 for the POC phase processing 100,000 products. I have extensive experience in similar projects and can ensure a smooth implementation. Let's discuss how we can make this project a success! Best, Karthik

You need an automated pipeline that populates accurate images across your 8M-product catalogue, flagging uncertain matches for review instead of uploading wrong images. I'd build a scalable Python pipeline: worker queues read products from your database/API, a sourcing stage fetches official manufacturer images via supplier feeds/APIs first, then falls back to AI-generated product-only images. A vision/ML matching layer validates each image against SKU/part number, catches duplicates and low-confidence matches, and flags them for manual review. Images are optimised for web delivery, pushed to your server or cloud CDN, and each product record is updated with its final image URL. Relevant experience: I built e-commerce/marketplace systems handling product catalogues, including automated image ingestion and validation. Two questions: which database/platform holds the 8M products, and do you have a preferred cloud storage/CDN? Happy to start with a pilot batch of a few thousand SKUs so you can verify accuracy before scaling up.

Hi, my specific plan for your 8M image pipeline: 1. Architecture: a job queue (AWS SQS) with parallel workers, and every step's status saved in PostgreSQL 2. Verification: AI vision checks each image against name, brand, SKU and part number, with a confidence score 3. Sourcing: manufacturer sites and feeds first, then image search APIs 4. AI images: only when no real image exists, product-only and labeled 5. Duplicates: perceptual hashing 6. Stack: Python, PostgreSQL, SQS, S3 7. Failures: auto retries. Low-confidence matches go to a review queue, never live 8. Storage: S3 with CloudFront, WebP images 9. Cost: likely a few hundred USD per 100K products. The POC will measure it exactly 10. I haven't done 8M products before, so the POC will prove accuracy, speed and cost first Cost and timeline: I'll share these after we discuss your complete project. Do your SKUs include manufacturer part numbers? Nameer

As a seasoned Full Stack Web Developer, I comprehend the crucial business need for an automated and scalable solution for your 8 million product images project. My expansive experience with creating large-scale systems is a testament to my ability to perform the task required. In terms of architecture for this project, I would propose a microservices-based architecture that can scale horizontally based on demand. With this architecture, each task module will handle image sourcing/generation, matching/validation, duplicate detection, compression/optimization, and uploading. Using cloud infrastructure like AWS or GCP will allow the system to auto-scale as per the requirements. To ensure that an image belongs to the correct product/part number, I would employ a multi-level verification approach. This comprises image hashing algorithms for initial matching against existing images and AI models trained on key product information like name, part number/SKU etc. To source manufacturer/official product images, my team will employ web-scraping techniques coupled with API integrations to extract images from relevant sources. For AI-generated images, we will use cutting-edge models to generate high-quality product-only representations when real images are unavailable.

Hello, I built 7 products in 7 days, and I'm passionate about buildingThe POC will measure match accuracy, speed and cost per 100,000 products on your own data. I've built text-reading pipelines over thousands of scanned pages for our platform. A Postgres status table per product feeds queue workers that scale out; every stage is resumable, so 8M runs in batches. An image is accepted only if its source page shows the exact part number beside it, or text read from the image matches the SKU, plus a visual similarity score against the title. Manufacturer sites and distributor catalogues first, found by brand + part number search. Generated images only for generic items with no official photo, marked as illustrations. A perceptual hash flags one image reused across different parts. Python, Postgres, Redis queue, OCR, image embeddings, WebP compression. Automatic retries with backoff; anything below the score threshold goes to a review queue, never live. Cloudflare R2 with its CDN: no egress fees at this scale. My estimate is $50–150 per 100,000 for search and processing, plus generation for the share that needs it; the POC gives the real figure. I've built text-reading pipelines over thousands of scanned pages for our own platform. My last two client projects closed at 5 out of 5 -Amul

Hello, With strong experience in Python, APIs, data processing, automation, image processing, databases, and cloud infrastructure, I can design the POC around a scalable pipeline that can later process millions of products without redesigning the core architecture. I’d use a queue-based worker architecture where product metadata is normalized first, then official/manufacturer image sources are queried using SKU, part number, manufacturer, and product attributes. Candidate images would be scored using metadata and visual similarity; low-confidence matches would be flagged instead of uploaded automatically. The pipeline would use deduplication through perceptual hashes and product-level validation, image optimization, object storage/CDN delivery, database updates, processing states, idempotent jobs, retry/backoff handling, and detailed audit logs. AI-generated images would only be considered when no reliable real product image is available and the product category supports it. For the POC, I’d measure match accuracy, throughput, failure rates, storage/API costs, and processing cost per 100K/1M products, then use those results to design the 8M-product deployment. Thanks, Diego Vinicius

As a seasoned developer with over 9 years of experience, I am confident that my automation and Python skills make me an ideal candidate for your large-scale image population project. My team and I have a proven track record of delivering successful automation solutions in various industries, including e-commerce, CMS, and mobile app development. Regarding the architecture of the system for 8 million products, we would build a distributed system capable of handling large data volumes to ensure efficient fetching, processing, and matching of images with product records. We would employ an AI-based image recognition model to ensure accurate matches while leveraging manufacturer portals and APIs to source manufacturer/official product images. In terms of handling technology stack, we’d choose technologies like Python (for its excellent data-processing capabilities), distributed processing frameworks like Apache Spark or Hadoop (to cope with high volumes), scalable cloud storage solutions like Amazon S3 or Azure Blob storage for efficient image storage. Prompt error detection, automatic retries, and flagging uncertain matches for manual review will all be incorporated to safeguard against failures and ensure a seamless process. Our cost-effective approach will provide you the best performance at low cost per 100k or 1 million products. Of course, optimizing images for web delivery would be no issue. 8 million SKUs at $781 won't run as one pass — realistic path is a pilot batch (say 50k) to tune the matching confidence threshold before scaling, otherwise you'll flood the review queue with false positives. I built an image crawler plus a pricing/matching engine for a 23,000-SKU store pulling data through a supplier's undocumented endpoints, so the SKU-to-source matching logic here is familiar ground. Do you already have a manufacturer image source list, or should the system discover sources per brand on its own?

I will build a scalable automated image sourcing, validation, and upload pipeline for 8M products. POC first, then scale. Architecture (Backblaze B2 + Cloudflare): Storage & Delivery: Backblaze B2 for image storage ($0.006/GB). Cloudflare CDN for delivery – free egress via Bandwidth Alliance. Cloudflare Workers proxy images from B2, eliminating bandwidth cost at scale. Pipeline: Queue-based system processes products in batches. Reads DB/API → finds or generates image → validates → optimizes → uploads to B2 → updates product record. Skips processed items. Auto-retries failures. Image Hierarchy: Manufacturer/official images via SKU/part number matching AI-generated product-only images when no real image exists Uncertain matches flagged for review (never auto-upload wrong image) Verification: Pass 1: pHash detects duplicates/near-duplicates Pass 2: CLIP embeddings confirm semantic match to product description Failure Handling: Exponential backoff retries. Processing logs maintained. Status tracked per product. Stack: Python + B2 + Cloudflare Workers + PostgreSQL + Redis. Cost: Storage ~$50/month. Egress $0. Processing ~₹1.5–2 per 1,000 images. Timeline: POC 2 weeks → full scale 6-8 weeks Why Me: Built large-scale data pipelines. I control costs at millions of records. Ready to start. Share DB schema and sample product data.
