I run [login to view URL], a custom social-media platform, and I’m ready to move our in-house video stack from “proof of concept” to production. The goal is a rock-solid RTMP server that can ingest between 10 and 50 concurrent channels, push each feed to my application in real time, and keep a copy for later viewing. Here’s the flow I have in mind: broadcasters connect with standard RTMP, the server transcodes if needed, forwards a HLS/DASH output that my front-end player can consume, and writes an archival file to cloud or local storage. Everything must remain inside my ecosystem—no relaying to Facebook, YouTube or Twitch—so authentication hooks and API callbacks to my platform are essential. Deliverables • Fully configured RTMP stack (Nginx-RTMP, MediaSoup, Wowza, or your preferred tool) on a fresh VPS or cloud instance of my choosing • Sample [login to view URL] (or equivalent) showing multi-channel support, stream key authentication tied to my user IDs, and automatic file recording • Step-by-step deployment notes so my team can replicate the setup in staging and production • Short load-test report confirming stable performance at 50 simultaneous 720p streams Acceptance criteria 1. A test broadcaster can go live, the player on [login to view URL] renders the stream within two seconds of latency, and the .mp4 archive appears in the designated bucket. 2. CPU, memory and network usage remain under 70 % during a 50-stream stress test. 3. All configuration is documented and committed to my private repo. Let me know which tech stack you’d pick, how quickly you can spin up the first working instance, and any prior RTMP projects you’ve handled. Also need video on demand

First thing I'd stand up is Nginx-RTMP with the on_publish callback pointed at your user-ID API, before touching HLS or recording, because everything else hangs on a stream key resolving to the right user. A bad key should drop the connection right there, and the callback has to stay fast enough that 50 publishers reconnecting at once don't queue behind it. From there it's HLS (LL-HLS if your player can use it) for playback, and per-stream MP4 recording pushed to your bucket when a stream ends, so VOD plays straight from the archive. The load test runs on the real instance with 50 ffmpeg publishers at 720p, and the CPU, memory, bandwidth and dropped-frame numbers go into the deployment notes. M1: RTMP ingest plus on_publish auth against your API, $231, 2d. M2: HLS/LL-HLS output, MP4 recording to bucket, VOD, $269, 3d. M3: 50x720p load test, tuning, deployment notes, $200, 2d. That's $700 over 7 days. It's a starting figure off the brief, and it moves once I see how your user-ID API holds up under 50 simultaneous publishes and which bucket provider you're on. Does the player need LL-HLS latency or is regular HLS fine, and is the instance already provisioned or should I size it too?

Hi, I'm Denis, a full-stack developer who has built several video streaming systems from the ground up, including live ingest pipelines, transcoding workflows, and archival infrastructure. I understand what you're building: a production-grade RTMP server handling 10-50 concurrent broadcasters, authenticated against your user database, delivering low-latency HLS to your frontend, recording to cloud storage, and serving archived content on demand. For this scale, I'd use Nginx-RTMP as the core (lightweight, battle-tested, reliable multi-channel ingest), layered with FFmpeg for transcoding and a Node.js backend handling authentication, recording state, and archival jobs. The implementation path: set up the RTMP server with authentication hooks, integrate FFmpeg for adaptive bitrate output, configure HLS delivery, and automate recording to your cloud bucket. I'd run a full load test at 50 concurrent 720p streams to verify performance thresholds, document everything, and create a replicable deployment process. Key technical consideration: stream authentication latency. I'd implement a lightweight token-based system with short TTLs rather than querying your main database on every connection—keeping performance tight without compromising security. One realistic risk is handling stream interruptions and reconnects gracefully. I'd build in automatic cleanup, retry logic, and monitoring to catch dropped streams before they impact archives or playback. I can start right away. Let

==== Hi - Truong here ==== "MULTI-CHANNEL RTMP SERVER SETUP" - you need a stable streaming backend that can handle live and recorded video. I would set up an RTMP stack with stream authentication, HLS output, recording, and VOD storage so your platform controls the full video flow. The key challenge is keeping latency and server load stable across many channels, so I would include monitoring, tuning, and load testing before handover. I would also document the configuration and deployment steps so your team can reproduce the setup across environments. Which VPS/cloud provider and storage option do you plan to use for live streams and VOD archives? Looking forward to work with you.

Hi there! I have **10 years of full-stack/server development experience** covering Node.js, Linux/VPS infrastructure, Nginx, APIs, real-time systems, cloud deployment and performance optimization. For your requirements, I’d recommend an **Nginx-RTMP/FFmpeg-based ingest and transcoding layer with an API authentication service**, plus HLS/low-latency delivery and automated archival to your selected storage. The final architecture should be chosen after confirming whether the **sub-2-second latency** requirement applies strictly to HLS/DASH or whether WebRTC can be used for playback. I can implement: - 10–50 concurrent RTMP ingest channels - User/stream-key authentication against Smasshbox - API/webhook callbacks for stream lifecycle events - FFmpeg transcoding profiles - HLS/DASH or low-latency playback output - Automatic MP4 recording and cloud/local archival - Monitoring, logging and failure handling - Reproducible staging/production configuration - Load testing for **50 simultaneous 720p streams** I won’t claim prior RTMP projects I can’t substantiate, but my broader full-stack/infrastructure work is available here: https://www.freelancer.com/u/atifuiux Could you share your preferred cloud/VPS provider and expected bitrate for each 720p stream? Warm regards, Muhammad Atif LA

Hi, I am a backend and video streaming developer with 8 years of rich experience in software development, with a background in live streaming servers and Linux infrastructure. I am familiar with Nginx, Nginx-RTMP, SRS, FFmpeg, HLS, DASH, WebRTC, Linux, VPS, Cloud Computing, S3 Storage, API Development, Video Streaming, etc. I'd use SRS, or Nginx-RTMP if you prefer, on your VPS so broadcasters connect with standard RTMP while each stream key is checked through an on_publish callback to your user API before going live. To meet the two-second latency target, I'd output WebRTC or low-latency HLS for the live player, since standard HLS usually runs 6–10 seconds, and pass H.264 feeds through without re-transcoding so 50 channels stay well under 70% CPU. Each stream would be recorded, remuxed to MP4 and uploaded to your bucket with a callback to your platform, then served as HLS for video on demand. I'd deliver a load test using FFmpeg to simulate 50 concurrent 720p streams, with the configs and step-by-step deployment notes committed to your repo. I'm an individual freelancer and can work on any time zone you want. Please contact me with the best time for you to have a quick chat. Looking forward to discussing more details. Thanks. Emile.

I understand you want a reliable live streaming server for your social platform that lets 10 to 50 broadcasters go live at the same time using standard RTMP, plays their streams smoothly on your site with low delay, keeps everything secure with stream keys tied to your users, saves every broadcast for video on demand, and comes with clear setup notes and a load test. I have experience setting up production streaming servers with Nginx-RTMP and FFmpeg on Linux cloud servers, including multi-channel ingest, HLS/DASH output, stream key authentication through API callbacks, automatic recording to S3-compatible storage, and video on demand playback. I can start work right away and contact me to discuss more details. Thanks. Smit

Hello, I can build a scalable RTMP server using Nginx-RTMP with built-in authentication and transcoding, avoiding the complexity of MediaSoup or Wowza. I set up a similar system for a live-streaming SaaS, handling 50 concurrent streams with under 65% CPU usage—just needed to tweak the GOP settings to reduce latency. I’d use Nginx-RTMP with FFmpeg for transcoding and HLS outputs, storing archives in your cloud bucket. The server will authenticate streams via a shared secret tied to user IDs, and the frontend will connect directly to the HLS feed. This setup ensures minimal latency while keeping everything within your ecosystem. Proper configuration will let you scale to 50 streams without performance issues, and the archival process will be fully automated. I’ll provide deployment docs and a load-test report to confirm stability before going live. Once the server is running, I’ll help your team test the full workflow—broadcaster to player to archive—before handing off full documentation. If this approach works for you, I can start setting up the server and share the plan within a few days. Thanks, Lazar.

Hi, I’m Dev Singh, Principal Software Engineer with 20+ years in video and backend systems. I have gone through your specific requirement for RTMP streaming and VOD. I would use Nginx-RTMP rather than Wowza, because your 50 stream target needs direct control over VPS resources and config. I will build the RTMP stack with Nginx-RTMP and FFmpeg. I will add stream key authentication, HLS output and MP4 recording to cloud storage. And I will add VOD playback from archived files, then run the 50 stream load test. Which cloud or VPS provider is preferred? Where should archived VOD files live? What API endpoint handles your user IDs? Free for a quick call? Or answer those three and I will map the first instance. Dev Singh

Hi there, Your proof-of-concept video stack needs production-grade RTMP ingestion for 10-50 concurrent 720p channels, low-latency playback, authentication callbacks, recording, and video on demand within your platform. I have strong hands-on experience with streaming infrastructure and API Development, and have solved similar problems involving RTMP-to-HLS delivery, FFmpeg transcoding, stream-key authentication, archival storage, and VOD workflows. My approach would be to: * Review the existing code, architecture, logs, or current implementation. * Identify the root cause and determine what can be reused versus what needs to be changed. * Implement a clean, maintainable solution using SRS or Nginx-RTMP, FFmpeg, HLS/DASH, object storage, and authenticated API callbacks. * Test edge cases, reliability, performance, security, and integration behavior. * Deploy or integrate the fix without disrupting the existing system. I would design stream lifecycle callbacks around your user IDs, tune segment and GOP settings for sub-two-second playback, record resiliently, and expose archived assets through a VOD-ready catalog while measuring CPU, memory, network, and end-to-end latency during the 50-stream load test. I prefer fixing the actual root cause rather than applying temporary patches, and I will keep the implementation simple, stable, and maintainable. I can start by reviewing the current streaming implementation, VPS or cloud setup, API contract, and storage target, then pr

Hi there! I understand you need to move your RTMP setup from POC to production with stable 10 to 50 concurrent 720p streams, low latency playback, recording, and video on demand. I have experience with Linux, Nginx, VPS/cloud setup, RTMP, HLS, video broadcasting, API integration, and streaming workflows. I can build the stack around your existing platform instead of relying on external streaming services. I would use Nginx-RTMP with FFmpeg for ingest, transcoding, HLS delivery, recording, and VOD. Stream-key authentication can be connected to your user IDs through API callbacks, while recordings can be stored locally or in cloud storage. I will configure monitoring, test concurrent streams, document deployment, and commit the complete configuration to your private repo. Getting an in-house RTMP server to handle dozens of live channels without stalling, dropping streams, or losing archives can be maddening, especially when your video stack is powering a custom social platform. Being locked out by latency, authentication gaps, or resource spikes is costly for user experience and your team’s time. You can expect a production-ready RTMP stack that ingests live broadcasters, streams instantly to your player with under two seconds latency, and reliably saves every session for video on demand. Here’s how I’ll get you there: First, I’ll deploy and configure a tailored RTMP solution on your preferred VPS or cloud server. Next, I’ll set up stream key authentication tied directly to your user IDs, plus automatic recording and HLS or DASH outputs your front end can consume. Finally, I’ll document the process with clear deployment notes and deliver a load-test report confirming stable performance. Would you prefer Nginx-RTMP or something like MediaSoup for your stack?
