I think the mechanism to call the robot is outdated if you can use wireless technology along side the laser lights and detectors for path finding it would be easy and fast to get to the water greedy plant. I have good experience in wireless technology like WiFi, Bluetooth, BLE and NFC. I think I can help you better with my skills on micro controllers if you are using one in your robot or with the processors running linux on robot.

I have done quite a few projects on Arduino and I am here not to earn but to learn. I will be able to communicate as often as required.
