I worked at a Trade media website as a journalist and now I am associated with them as a copy editor/proofreader/editor. My work involves everything that you have mentioned as requirements for QC. I get reporter copies and I have to: 1) Check for plagiarism 2) Ensure the stories fit the company's style sheet, tone, approach and other guidelines 3) Correct various errors (when the copies are extremely bad, I send them back to the reporters to rewrite) 4) Restructure copies for flow and clarity 5) Since I have worked in the same field as a reporter, I often give feedback to current reporters about how they can get more information, structure stories better or figure out which headline or peg works So, your work is very similar to what I have been doing for the past 1.5 years. Recently, I have been involved in writing my own Master's thesis as well as Academic writing for clients which puts me in a good position to understand referencing requirements too.
