I have a connection string that works from my home computer, but not form another server. I got a new hosted server mainly just ot host SQL 2005 express.
Would like to move my data there, but I'm connectivity problems from my other servers.
I have set up a database, it works fine and I can connect remotely using 2005 SQL Server Mgt Studio (Developer Edition) on my notebook and using VB/Script and via VB/Script running on my local computer. I can see the data and update it. I have attached “Surface Area Config”.
But when accessing from an ASP application (or VB/Script) on a different hosted server I have a problem.

- You can try different connection strings here.
I have tried several variations of this connection string, including the port 1433
Provider=SQLOLEDB;User Id=test;password=test;Initial Catalog=Students;Data
Source=[url removed, login to view]
Getting this error:
Error No: -2147467259
Description: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
Source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server
Of course, both hosting services claim it is not their problem. I have full admin rights and remote desktop to both hosted servers.
I have posted to Microsoft forums, no response. I'm willing to pay to get this fixed so I can get rid of a monthly server fee.
This project is based on success, if you take the project and cannot fix the problem, no pay.
