The way I'd prefer to go about doing this is to collaborate live via Parsec, so it can be built to your exact mic'ing conditions and gain settings, though I'll obviously have a quick-adjust for matching input gain should you change it. But yeah, it gets tricky trying to deterministically normalize different angles and distances between speaker and mic. There is a neat (and free) AI solution called Matchering which can help maintain consistency in frequency response once you have the levels balanced between differently-mic'd clips. I use REAPER daily. You won't regret the switch once you get comfortable. Simple dynamics curve can be used to filter out noise leaking in almost entirely, though we can look at more robust noise filters depending on your situation.
