Task:
Domestic Stair Design
You are required to learn the basic elements of CAD (Computer Aided Design) during
weeks 2-9. After the initial introduction to CAD the rest of the sessions will involve you
designing and detailing a domestic staircase. The staircase must:
1. Follow the Building Regulation requirements i.e. treads, risers, nosing’s,
handrail etc. (Part K)
You are expected to:
Detail the staircase on both the ground floor and first floor plans
provided. Existing doors and walls are fixed and should not be altered or
moved.
Add the staircase design to the section provided (in elevation form).
2 Plans (Ground Floor + 1st Floor) and 1 elevation/section to be drawn on CAD.
This forms 15% of your Portfolio grade.
You must include:
Dimensions
Annotations
Labelled stair numbers
Short stair specification (to justify that you have designed your stair to meet
current Building Regulation requirements and you are using appropriate
materials, INCLUDING 2R+G Calcs)
Scaled viewports on appropriate pages/sheets with title blocks. (A3)
