Hi - the critical part here is not drawing Azure architecture, it is making Azure SQL, Data Factory, APIM, and deployments repeatable from one pipeline without hidden portal steps. I’d structure the environment with IaC, clear dev/prod separation, secrets management, migration scripts, ADF linked services, and APIM policy automation. Commit is pushed - pipeline validates templates - deploys Azure SQL - runs migrations - publishes Data Factory pipelines - updates APIM products and policies - smoke tests confirm endpoints. Looks correct, but fails when portal-only settings are not captured in source control. Manual Azure changes can cause deployment drift in real use, so I handle it with Bicep/Terraform, parameterized configs, rollback notes, and release logs. Input - repo and requirements. Processing - IaC + CI/CD. Output - repeatable Azure deployment. The part to get right early is environment and configuration strategy.

i’ve done very similar recently building Azure stacks with Azure SQL, Data Factory, APIM, and full CI/CD via GitHub Actions + Bicep. Will you use GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps for pipelines? Do you need blue/green or slot-based deployment for APIM and DB changes? I suggest Bicep for IaC because it keeps deployments native and easier to maintain than ARM or Terraform. I also suggest versioned DB migrations (Flyway or Liquibase) to ensure safe rollbacks and consistent schema across environments. I’ll design the architecture, define SQL schema and Data Factory pipelines, then build Bicep templates for all resources. Hi, Azure SQL, Data Factory, and APIM is a stack I've worked with, and the CI/CD piece is where most of these setups fall apart if the pipeline isn't designed with rollbacks and migration steps in mind from the start. My approach: Bicep for infrastructure-as-code since it's native to Azure and cleaner to maintain than ARM templates. Data Factory pipelines and linked services built against the SQL schema, APIM policies configured with proper versioning and security. Interesting project, I will architect on Bicep, wire ADF's Git integration so the adf_publish branch feeds the pipeline, ship SQL changes via DACPAC for forward-compatible migrations + rollback, APIM revisions for non-breaking + versions for breaking.
