We are in the process of buying this very old house which has an aspestos roof and damp walls. It is in a sought after location and the views from the house are great. There is a large garden at the side of the house which we want to use as an extension. We want to totally change the front of the existing house into a very modern contemporary glass design. The existing extension on the front left of the house needs modernising but we cannot make it 2 storey as there is a dwelling behind us and it would block their view. We want to make the most of the that extension and the attached shed space on the front left end of the house and bring it out in an L shape skylights. We want to make a large extension in the garded and attach it to the existing building. We want an upper patio area to enjoy the view, which leads to the kitchen. We plan to make the upstairs a kitchen and living area, however we want something downstairs at the existing front of the house where you can open it up and walk straight out onto the front. We want 4 bedrooms, the master beroom to have a modern walk in wardrobe with natural light and a large ensuite. We don't know where to position bedrooms. We want a large utility room and also a type of integral shed/storage room. We need an office. We want lots of light but the windows to be tinted with a degree of privacy but to enjoy the wonderful views at the front (the cloudy weather in the does nothing for the view but I will update pics).
I have edited the following pics -
Pic2ba - entrance to garden.
Pic3ca - steps up to garden. The trees on the right will be taken down to create more view.
Pic3da - view of entrance to garden from rear of garden.
Pic3ea - our garden boundary, one circle for the entrance, another circle on the trees that will come down and the straight lines show our garden boundary. The area immediately behind the house belongs to the neighbour.
Pic3fa - more boundary lines.
Pic3ga - boundary lines. Note the line on the right - I created a right arm to show where the rear of our house ends and where our neighbour's land starts.
We don't really know what we want until we see it other than we don't want traditional. We want light, airy, spacious, practical and very modern.
The current accommodation is 89.47 Sq M or 963.05 Sq Ft. It is a detached 2 storey 3 bed dwelling. The 2 windows upstairs at the front of the house are bedrooms. The window to the right of the front door is a kitchen and the window to the left of the front door is a part of the kitchen/living room area.
The first part of the extension to the left of the front of the house is a utility and bathroom.
The second part of the extension is used as a bedroom.
The site is an irregular shape, level topographically and extends to an area of approximately 587.59 Sq M.
We would like ideas to come our way, we are stuck as to how use the space and make the most of the view.
