SCOPE OF SERVICE: The Utility BIM Coordinator (UBC) for a Maintenance Storage Facility (MSF) will initiate and govern BIM coordination efforts for the scope of utility design at MSF site, ensuring seamless integration between building, civil, and track disciplines. The UBC-MSF will conduct regular utility team coordination meetings to lead and support the CLIENT's Utility teams and project BIM Manager between the various BIM designers to produce an accurate design-intent BIM model of the MSF and to identify design challenges. Duties include: • Initiate and oversee BIM coordination efforts for the scope of utility design at the MSF site. • Ensure integration between all disciplines including building, civil, track and utility disciplines. • Conduct regular utility team coordination meetings (co-leading and supporting CLIENT Utility Leads and project BIM Manager). • Coordinate between various BIM designers to produce an accurate design-intent BIM model of the MSF. • Weekly exports (cad) for civil disciplines to use in their models (xrefs) • Identify design challenges through coordination efforts. • Coordinate with the Discipline MSF BIM Coordinators to gather the latest updates on their BIM Models. • Maintain documentation of coordination activities. • Conduct internal design team meetings weekly focused on identifying and resolving clashes. • Prepare meeting minutes documenting BIM reviews across all disciplines. • Assign action items, obtain meeting attendee confirmation, and agree on next steps to maintain project timeline. • Maintain a detailed record of all BIM designs for the MSF project. • Record, track, check the accuracy and completion of internal and external review comments, and monitor design team progress in addressing comments to ensure timely completion and adherence to project schedule. • Responsible for geolocation of model’s design data per discipline and named per project convention. • Oversee the creation and maintenance of accurate and up-to-date BIM models for utility design. • Coordinate BIM models with other project disciplines (e.g., structural, mechanical, electrical) to ensure compatibility and avoid conflicts. • Review utility designs to ensure compliance with project requirements, support adherence to design codes, and industry standards. • Identify and resolve clashes between utility elements and other project components using BIM clash detection tools and respond to clash constructability comments. • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to utility BIM processes, including standards, procedures, and templates. • Prepare regular reports on the progress of utility BIM activities, including key performance indicators and challenges, for the overall Utility Lead. • Attend and contribute to project meetings (including one weekly team coordination meeting aside from daily general coordination), providing updates on utility BIM progress and addressing any concerns. • Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and completeness of utility BIM models. • Enforce Project BIM standards and best practices throughout the project. • Provide new staff with transition support for seamless integration onto the ongoing project. • Select and implement appropriate BIM integrated software design tools and workflows compliant with the approved Project CAD Plan. • May provide utility-focused training to project utility team members on the use of BIM software and processes. • Ensure the constructability of the maintenance storage facility design (including workshop areas, storage bays, administrative offices, site layout, parking, etc.). • Coordinate with the MSF Utility Team to verify compliance with accessibility standards for passengers and staff. • Coordinate with the MSF Utility Team to incorporate sustainable design principles into the utility elements of the project. • Maintain drawing sheet index for all Design Unit Packages supported. DELIVERABLE: Utility BIM Models & Data: • Accurate, up-to-date, and complete Utility BIM Models for the MSF project components. • Correctly geolocated Utility BIM models adhering to project naming conventions. • BIM models demonstrating compliance with specific requirements (e.g., MSF functionality, accessibility standards, sustainable design principles). Coordination & Clash Management: • Clash detection reports or responses specific to the utility scope and its interfaces. • Documentation showing the resolution of identified clashes involving utility elements. • Formal responses to constructability comments related to clashes. Documentation & Records: • Meeting minutes from utility team coordination meetings and BIM reviews. • Action item logs documenting assigned tasks, owners, and status, ensuring project timeline adherence. • Clear and concise documentation summarizing BIM coordination activities. • A maintained, detailed record/archive of all utility BIM designs for the MSF project. • Respond to reports documenting the status and resolution of internal and external review comments. • Documentation outlining selected BIM software/tools and established workflows. Reporting & Analysis: • Regular progress reports detailing utility BIM activities, status, and challenges, provided to the Utility Lead. • Documented suggestions for design modifications aimed at improving efficiency, cost-effectiveness, or constructability. • Potentially, documented design review markups or compliance summaries.
