software that can power-cycle a modem

I need software that can automatically detect when a modem has lost its sync and will power-cycle the modem automatically. I understand that this might not work with all modems but as long as it works for the modems sbc/yahoo use (effecient products) but the more compatible it is or may be for more modems would be great. Please send me any ideas.
