We would need an application that should run in the system tray of MS Windows and start up automatically when Windows launches. When the user right-clicks on the icon in the system tray, a popup menu should appear (several tree levels), and each entry should launch a specific URL of our website. Upon each restart, the application should contact the server on which the website runs and retrieve a file which specifies which entries should appear in the menu. The idea is that the launcher gives users all the benefits of running a native application but because the server sets the users' setting centrally, we keep control over what the user can do - if it gets assigned to a new project, it will be able to access the URL which hosts all the data relating to the project, if it gets removed from the project, the link on the desktop disappears as well, etc.
