This is an obstacle detection and tracking project using stereo vision. However, the main focus is on obstacle detection. Cameras installed on a boat captures images. These images are then processed to determine if there are any obstacle in the path of motion.
The objective of this project is to employ computer stereo vision methods to determine the sky-sea waterline as well as to outline obstacles (such as boats or buoys) together with the waterline.
Thus, freelancer is requested to use the following approach: image segmentation. By cutting up the image into smaller sub-pictures before applying edge detection algorithms. After which, these detected edges are recombined to form the overall outline of obstacles and waterline.
