The end goal is to send and receive commands to the thermostat from a computer which is attached directly to the Nest thermostat USB C port. The thermostat will be used for display purposes and will not be connected to an actual heating/cooling system. I would like to send one command which increases the temperature reading on the display and another to decrease it. The Nest thermostat needs to be 3rd generation which can be found at the link below. You will need to purchase the thermostat. Please respond with an estimated cost for this project. Hi there, I'm a semi-retired systems engineer and have worked in very varied consumer electronics markets, and specialise in C/C++. The Gen 3 Next Thermostat can be purchased in Ireland; so I should be able to have this done for you within 2 - 3 weeks or so. Presumably you want a Windows software to control/command the thermostat?
