I Run a busy online shop selling souvenir photos.
Our photographers around Europe currently upload pictures from their memory cards to an FTP folder. They are then downloaded at our office, watermarked and re-uploaded to our online store.
I am after a simple software solution that will go through step-by-step copying images from inserted media, watermarking the images then uploading them to an ftp folder in order for the work to be done at their end freeing time up in our office.
The program would have to ask:
then rename the photos in this format [url removed, login to view], [url removed, login to view] etc.
watermark them (each venue has it's own watermark)
allow the user to check every photo (with options to change orientation or to delete image)
then upload to relevant FTP folders (based on location/venue/date).
Then to send an email to our office notifying us when upload is complete.
Often, there are 2 or 3 memory cards with pictures per venue/date.
I have a 'flow-chart' of how i expect this to work....
Select [Date] Photos were taken:
"Please insert memory card..." - Software to recognise inserted media (different types of card are used and have different drive letters. - would be helpful not to have to find/select the photos manually), select all images on card and copy to a temporary folder...
"Do you have another memory card? - Yes or No (If yes, copy images as before, if not, next step.)
"Review Images" - Display each image with option to rotate, delete or make album cover (album cover = rename to [url removed, login to view])
After all images are reviewed, rename all images, and create a watermarked/resized copy, then both copies uplaoaded to :
ftp://[url removed, login to view][Location]/[Venue]/[Date]/[url removed, login to view] (For Original Images)
ftp://[url removed, login to view][Location]/[Venue]/[Date]/[url removed, login to view] - (For Watermarked/resized Images)
I currently Use:
FastStone PhotoResizer - A free utility that renames / resizes / watermarks images - (But it's far to complicated for some of my photographers)
This would have to be VERY SIMPLE to use (my photographers struggle to copy pictures to an FTP folder!!!) I would need to be able to email this utility to them so they just have to open it and off they go.
I have looked into creating solutions with a batch file and faststone but just can't simplify it enough.
I Have been let down by a freelancer from this site, I was told it would take 3 days to complete - 19 days later, he wont even respond to my messages! - I am looking for this project to be completed as soon as possible! I have an un-finished version of the program which I can send as a template for what i require.
