Apply these accurately. Contoured Cutouts: The finger pulls on the TRAY FRONT parts. Screw Holes: Include all screw holes for the TRAY GUIDE pieces. Miter Joints: Pay close attention to the 45-degree mitered ends on the tray sides and fronts, and the frame connectors. Combine Features: The 3D model should represent the final, fully machined part, ready for assembly. CNC Ready Solids and Scale: Watertight Mesh (for STL) or Solid Body (for STEP): The 3D models must be solid throughout, with no missing faces, inverted normals, or internal self-intersections. This is crucial for successful toolpath generation in CAM software. Optimal Tessellation (for STL): If providing STL files, ensure the mesh resolution is sufficiently high to accurately capture all curves and details without being excessively large, which can cause performance issues. Correct Orientation: Orient the 3D model with the bottom surface of the physical part flat on the Z=0 plane (the machine's spoilboard in a typical CNC setup). All 3D models must be built to scale (1:1 scale), reflecting real-world dimensions. Save: Save each 3D part as a separate .stl or .step file. Specific Details to Note from the Plans: Trays: All three trays are "matching" but the top one is fixed, and the bottom two slide. They all use similar SLIDING TRAY SIDE or FIXED TOP TRAY SIDE and TRAY FRONT pieces. The TRAY BOTTOM is 1/4" plywood, 9-1/2" x 12-1/2". The groove for the bottom is 1/4" wide, 1/4" deep, and 1/8" from the bottom edge in the sides and front of the trays. The TRAY SPLINE (1/8" x 3/8" x 1") is crescent-shaped with a 7/8" radius, 1/4" thick. This is glued into the spline slots in the tray corners. The TRAY FRONT has a specific cutout: flat 4" wide section, 1" deep, with R1/4 corners. Frame: The main "U-shaped" frame consists of two FRAME UPRIGHTS and two FRAME CONNECTORS (top and bottom). The TOP FRAME SPLINE (1/8" x 3/4" x 3-1/4" initial size), shown with a final shape including a curve and a V-notch. This should be modeled as the final shape after glue-up and trimming. The TRAY GUIDE (1/2" thick, 12-1/8" long, with specific end shapes as shown in detail on page 4). These are attached to the FRAME UPRIGHTS with #8 x 5/8" Brass FHWS (Flat Head Wood Screws) into 5/32" countersunk holes. The FRAME UPRIGHTS have intricate spline slots at the top and bottom. The FRAME TOP CONNECTOR and FRAME BOTTOM CONNECTOR also have these spline slots and are curved. Note the R1/2 round-overs on the outside edges of the frame and trays. Spline Jig: No need to model the spline jig itself, only the splines for the project. Part 4: Final Check and Quality Assurance (QA) Before delivery, please perform the following rigorous checks: All parts accounted for? Every unique wooden component listed or visually represented in the PDF should have a 2D DXF and a 3D STL/STEP file. Dimensions and Scale Correct? Compare critical dimensions from your models against the PDF plans. Perform a full interference or clash detection analysis on the assembled model. Identify and Resolve Issues. Any detected interferences (where two parts occupy the same space) must be resolved by precisely adjusting the relevant part models. There should be zero interference in the final assembled model, ensuring all parts fit together as intended by the plans, considering any necessary clearances (e.g., for sliding trays). Document Clearance. Briefly report any intentional small clearances you have designed, such as the 1/16" clearance around the sliding trays mentioned in the PDF.
