Development of Advanced Polyurethane & Hybrid Coating Systems for Roofing and Waterproofing (IP Ownership Focus) I am seeking an experienced industrial formulation chemist (polyurethanes / epoxy / silane systems) to support the development of a new generation of high-performance coatings for roofing and waterproofing applications. We are currently importing polyurethane coatings (aromatic and aliphatic) from Eastern Europe and private-labels them for our market. These products present several limitations (e.g. MDI content, solvent load, shrinkage during cure), and we aim to transition towards proprietary, optimised, and market-tailored formulations. Core Project Goals 1. Formulation Ownership & Supply Chain Control Develop in-house formulations to eliminate reliance on external suppliers Establish full intellectual property ownership Enable flexible manufacturing through selected raw material suppliers 2. Performance Optimisation for our Market Improve durability and application performance under wet weather conditions Eliminate key drawbacks of current products (e.g. shrinkage, odour, solvent content) 3. Develop coatings that are: MDI-free Solvent-free or ultra-low VOC Moisture-triggered curing (fast rain resistance) Low odour / odourless High durability (target lifespan ~25 years) Scope: 1. Polyurethane Waterproofing coating (Liquid Applied) Thickness: 1.5–2 mm WFT Moisture-triggered curing Immediate resistance to light rain Excellent wetting of reinforcement (e.g. chopped strand mat) UV stable, abrasion resistant Self-levelling Non-flammable, odourless 2. Polyurethane Coating for Metal Roof Protection Thickness: 300–400 µm WFT Sprayable without solvents High adhesion to plastisol/PVC coatings UV stable, non-chalking semi-gloss finish High mechanical resistance 3. Additional Systems Modified polymer coating (e.g. acrylic / hybrid) for cladding Zinc-rich primer (metal protection) Water-based epoxy primer (concrete/bitumen) Silane-terminated (MS polymer) coatings I am looking for someone who can help in tackling at least one if not all of the above stated challenges.

Hi Dejanverh, Just last week I completed a similar task successfully, so I can get started on this without any ramp-up time. 1) What regulatory limits must we meet (VOC, residual free NCO, fire class, any potable/wet-use) and what application window is required (substrate moisture, RH/temp, target rain-onset)? 2) Which substrates/stacks are in scope (bitumen, concrete, galvanized, plastisol/PVC, TPO), and what pass/fail standards apply (ETAG 005/EAD 030350, EN 13501, ISO 4624/2409, QUV hours, salt spray, ponding)? Suggestion 1: Build an MDI-free moisture-cure platform: low-monomer HDI/IPDI prepolymer co-networked with silane-terminated polyether, tin-free (Bi/Zr) catalysts, oxazolidine accelerators, polycarbonate diols, reactive diluents, and tuned thixotropy to minimize shrinkage/odor and enable fast rain resistance. Suggestion 2: For metal roofs, adopt 100%-solids 2K aliphatic polyaspartic, plural-sprayable, with PVC/plastisol adhesion promoters and optional epoxy–silane tie-coat; standardize dual-sourced raws and in-process NCO/viscosity QC for reliable scale-up. Action Plan: - Discovery: Benchmark current SKUs; lock target specs/compliance. - Formulate: DoE on waterproofing to hit 1.5–2 mm WFT, wet mat wetting, self-level, rain-safe <30 min. - Parallel: 2K polyaspartic metal coat; waterborne epoxy + Zn-rich primers; STP/acrylic hybrid. - Validate: QUV, salt spray, ponding, wet-adhesion, abrasion, EN 13501; VOC/odor Best Regards, Sid

Dear Sir/Madam I am a chemist from Zimbabwe and holds B.Sc. Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University of Zimbabwe as well as M.Sc. Chemistry from the University of Siegen in Germany. I would like to be part of your project in polyurethane and hybrid roof coatings. Thermoplastic polyurethane is any class of polyurethane plastics with many properties, including elasticity, transparency, and resistance to oil, grease and abrasion. TPU is a block copolymer consisting of alternating sequences of hard and soft segments or domains formed by the reaction of (1) diisocyanates with short-chain diols (chain extenders) and (2) diisocyanates with long-chain diols. By varying the ratio, structure and/or molecular weight of the reaction, compounds, a large variety of different TPU can be produced. This allows urethane chemists to fine-tune the polymer's structure to the desired final properties of the material. For example, a greater ratio of hard to soft segments will result in a more rigid TPU, while the reverse is also true. Polyurethanes are linear polymers that have a molecular backbone containing carbamate groups (NHCO2). These groups are called urethane. Polyurethanes can be produced in four different forms including elastomers, coatings, flexible foams, and cross-linked foams. Polyurethanes are mixed with carbon dioxide which causes it to expand. Yours faithfully Brian Chiunye
