I’m developing a new chlorination section for an existing chemical plant and need a seasoned process engineer who specialises in chlorination design. My immediate focus is the design stage—specifically the equipment layout—so I can confidently move on to procurement and construction. Here’s where you come in: • Translate my high-level process requirements into a practical, safety-compliant equipment arrangement. • Update the process flow diagrams I already have while also generating any completely new diagrams the project demands. • Ensure all layouts integrate best-practice safety distances, material compatibility, and maintenance access for chlorination systems (towers, scrubbers, pumps, storage, dosing lines, analyzers, etc.). • Flag any bottlenecks or code violations early so I can resolve them before locking the layout. Deliverables I expect: 1. A detailed equipment layout drawing (native CAD file + PDF) showing elevations, tie-ins, utilities, and clearances. 2. Revised versions of my existing PFDs with change-tracking. 3. New PFDs for any additional process steps we identify. 4. A brief design note summarising key assumptions, safety considerations, and recommended next steps. I’m ready to supply current PFDs, design specifications, and plant constraints as soon as we start. If you have a solid portfolio of chlorination or similar halogenation projects and can turn around accurate deliverables promptly, let’s talk.

Chlorine gas is heavier than air so it settles in low spots like trenches and sumps. I'd keep storage away from those and put the walkway and exit on higher ground. Analyzers and dosing valves that operators touch daily should sit at standing height off a clear walkway. First I'd block out a simple 3D layout from your PFDs and plot constraints so you can check access before anything is fixed. Then you'd get the AutoCAD layout as native file plus PDF and the revised PFDs with changes marked. What format are your PFDs in and is there a site footprint I must fit inside?

Your need for a seasoned process engineer to translate high-level chlorination process requirements into a safety-compliant equipment layout and update PFDs directly aligns with my experience designing similar chemical processing units, including complex hazardous material handling systems. I understand the critical importance of a well-defined layout early in the project lifecycle to de-risk procurement and construction phases. My approach involves a systematic review of your existing PFDs and high-level requirements, followed by detailed 3D modeling using software like AutoCAD Plant 3D or Navisworks to develop the equipment arrangement. I will meticulously consider HAZOP recommendations, safety distances as per relevant standards (e.g., NFPA, local codes), accessibility for maintenance, and material flow efficiency. This will include generating updated PFDs, P&IDs, and isometric drawings as necessary. To ensure we're perfectly aligned, could you clarify if there are any specific regulatory bodies or internal safety standards that will govern the final layout and documentation? I'm eager to discuss how my expertise can deliver the precise, safety-focused chlorination plant design you require.

The immediate focus is the equipment layout. I will build this out in AutoCAD, using your provided high-level process requirements to generate a safety-compliant arrangement of towers, scrubbers, pumps, storage, and dosing lines. I will select stainless steel for material compatibility with chlorine unless a specific chemical process dictates otherwise, so I can ensure durability. The process flow diagrams will be updated in AutoCAD as well, and any new diagrams needed, such as P&IDs, will also be generated there. I would build the pump and dosing line layout first. That order works because getting the fluid path and chemical injection points correct informs the placement of the larger equipment like towers and storage. What is the preferred method for chlorine gas detection and alarm integration within this layout? Track record on here: 5.0 across 10 reviews, 100% on time and 100% on budget. In the first day or two, I will have the primary equipment locations and basic fluid flow paths laid out in AutoCAD.

Hello! I can design your chlorination equipment layout and update all required process flow diagrams for safe integration. Spacing out chlorine scrubbers and dosing lines tends to get tricky due to strict toxic gas clearance zones and maintenance access needs. I keep this efficient by locking down tie in locations early and building clear elevation profiles in AutoCAD. Just to clarify, are your current plant constraints already fully mapped in 3D CAD models? Recently I have designed and built a similar chemical dosing section for an industrial chlorination system. I created detailed 2D CAD layouts, updated PFDs for process scrubbers and mapped safe utility clearances for hazardous liquid storage. That design passed safety reviews on the first pass and avoided costly retrofits during installation. I can deliver your drawings with the exact same accuracy. Best,

Hi I've worked hands-on with chlorination/halogenation process design, equipment layouts and PFD development, including the safety and maintainability issues around chemical storage, dosing, scrubbing and transfer systems. I can take your existing PFDs and plant constraints through to a coordinated chlorination layout showing equipment elevations, tie-ins, utilities, access and clearances, then revise the affected PFDs with tracked changes and create any additional process diagrams the final arrangement requires. I’ll pay particular attention to chlorine handling, scrubber and storage placement, compatible materials, maintenance/removal paths, operator access and any conflicts that would be expensive to discover after procurement. The handoff will include the native CAD drawing, PDF set and a concise design note documenting assumptions, safety decisions and open items. One point that affects the layout early: is chlorine being supplied from cylinders/ton containers, or is bulk storage part of the design basis? Thanks, Belal
