I need a seasoned process engineer who lives and breathes oleochemicals to take full technical ownership of the fat-splitting / hydrolysis section of an existing plant upgrade. Your brief is to review our current operation, then design and optimise a revamped system that drives higher yield and reliability while fitting seamlessly into the wider refining train. The focus is squarely on fat splitting/hydrolysis, so I am looking for deep, hands-on experience with high-pressure hydrolysers, glycerine handling, thin-film or short-path vacuum distillation for product polish, and the fundamentals of vacuum systems sizing. You will be expected to: • Build a complete mass- and energy-balance from field data and laboratory characterisation of mixed acid-oil feedstock. • Select and size all critical equipment—reactors, heat exchangers, pumps, vacuum packages, separators—and lay them out for efficient maintenance access. • Define optimum operating conditions (pressure, temperature, residence time, steam rate, phase ratios) that maximise split completeness while protecting downstream distillation. • Validate or correct existing PFDs and walk the plant to verify every P&ID tie-in. • Provide concise, actionable recommendations on adsorptive bleaching and plate-and-frame filtration interfaces where required. Deliverables will include updated PFD/P&ID sets (PDF and native CAD), an equipment list with design duty and utility loads, a parameter optimisation report with supporting calculations, and a short slide deck summarising risks, assumptions and next steps for management sign-off. All calculations should be transparent—preferably Excel or Aspen-derived—so our in-house team can follow the logic. If you have 10+ years leading oleochemical or edible-oil-refining projects, a proven track record of troubleshooting hydrolysers, and the confidence to back your numbers in a design review, I’m keen to collaborate.

Hi, I reviewed your Fatty Acid Plant Revamp request and understand the goal: take technical ownership of the fat-splitting and hydrolysis section, then redesign it for higher yield, reliability, and seamless fit into the refining train. I’ll build a complete mass- and energy-balance from field data and lab characterisation of mixed acid-oil feedstock, then validate/correct existing PFDs and walk down every P&ID tie-in. I’ll select and size the hydrolyser/reactor, heat-exchangers, pumps, separators, and vacuum packages, including vacuum system sizing, to set optimum pressure, temperature, residence time, steam rate, and phase ratios. For quality, I’ll deliver transparent calculations (Excel/Aspen-derived), updated PFD/P&ID in PDF and native CAD, and concise recommendations for adsorptive bleaching and plate-and-frame filtration interfaces, with a risk-focused slide deck for management sign-off. Let’s discuss here now.

Hi there, Your fat splitting and hydrolysis section revamp can be handled with full technical ownership, building accurate mass and energy balances, optimising equipment sizing and operating conditions to improve yield and reliability across the refining train exactly as outlined. Quick questions before starting: Is field data and lab characterisation of the feedstock already available for review? Are current PFDs and P&IDs ready to share for validation and walk through? Should calculations be delivered primarily in Excel, Aspen, or both together? Solution will include reviewing current operations and building transparent mass and energy balances, sizing reactors, heat exchangers, vacuum packages and separators, defining optimum pressure, temperature and residence time parameters, validating PFDs and P&ID tie-ins onsite, and delivering updated diagrams, equipment lists, an optimisation report and a concise slide deck for management sign-off. Relevant experience includes leading oleochemical hydrolyser troubleshooting and revamp projects with strong process engineering depth. Happy to discuss project scope further in chat. Best regards Farhin B

While I may not traditionally fit the mold for an oleochemical engineer, I believe this divergence in skill set is what sets me apart and makes me the best fit for this project. As a Full Stack Developer, troubleshooting is my key strength. The ability to identify issues, research possible solutions, and implement effective fixes is a fundamental aspect of my work and it directly correlates with the task you have described for this project. I am confident in my capacity to identify inefficiencies across systems and devise innovative solutions that maximize yield while ensuring proper integration. Moreover, communication is at the heart of my problem-solving approach. I understand that the success of any project lies in effective collaboration among team members. My aim will be to fully understand your current operations and objectives so that we can build a revamped system that aligns seamlessly with your wider refining train.

✋ Hi There!!! ✋ The Goal of the project:- REVAMP FAT SPLITTING HYDROLYSIS SECTION WITH OPTIMISED MASS ENERGY BALANCE, EQUIPMENT SIZING AND UPDATED PFD P&ID SETS. <-- Questions --> 1. What is current capacity and split completeness percentage of hydrolyser, since that sets baseline for optimisation targets. 2. Is native CAD work expected in AutoCAD or another specific software, since PFD and P&ID deliverables need to match your in-house team format. Similar oleochemical projects have been completed before, covering fat splitting and hydrolysis section revamps, mass and energy balance development from field data, equipment sizing for reactors and vacuum systems, and PFD P&ID validation work, so taking technical ownership of this upgrade fits well within past experience. Looking forward to chat with you for make a deal Best Regards Elisha Mariam!
