I already have the core parts on hand—two 5 mm 2-way pluggable terminal connectors, a 3510 bridge rectifier, four 4 700 µF / 35 V* electrolytic capacitors, a single 480 Ω or 2.2 kΩ 1 W resistor (we’ll pick whichever best sets the LED current once we confirm the DC rail), and a 5 mm indicator LED. What I need from you is a clean, dependable AC-to-DC power-supply design that delivers a regulated 24 V output. Here’s what I expect: • A clear schematic showing the full rectification, smoothing, and regulation stages that make best use of the components above • Component value checks and any minor additions (for example, bleeder resistor, snubber, or simple linear regulator stage) to keep ripple and heat within safe limits • Brief notes on selecting between the 480 Ω and 2.2 kΩ resistor for the LED indicator based on the final DC level • Guidance on transformer secondary voltage and current rating so I can source the right iron core unit locally • If you work in KiCad, Eagle, or Altium, please also drop the project file so I can spin a small PCB; otherwise, a neat PDF schematic is fine Acceptance criteria: 1. Output voltage stays within 24 V ±5 % under 75 % load. 2. No component exceeds its rated voltage or power dissipation in continuous operation. 3. Documentation is clear enough for me to build and test the supply without follow-up questions. That’s the whole job—straightforward but I want it done right. If anything needs clarification, let me know before you dive in.

Hi there, I can provide the complete engineering package to turn your on-hand components into a reliable, regulated 24 V DC power supply. Key Technical Parameters: Transformer Selection: 20 V AC to 22 V AC secondary (3 A minimum). This yields ~26 V to 28.9 V DC peak, giving the regulator enough dropout headroom while keeping your 35 V capacitors operating within a safe 17% voltage margin. LED Current Setting: Use the 2.2 k ohm resistor on the 24 V output. It sets LED current to a ideal 10 mA (0.22 W dissipation), whereas the 480 ohm resistor would overdrive the LED at 45.8 mA and exceed 1 W power dissipation. Protection & Thermal Management: Added 1N4007 reverse-bias protection diodes across the linear regulator, a 3.3 k ohm (1 W) bleeder resistor across the 18,800 uF cap bank for discharge safety, and heatsink sizing for the regulator. Deliverables: Complete schematic with full component values, tolerances, and pinouts. Comprehensive design note detailing ripple calculations, derating analysis, and transformer selection. Native KiCad / Gerber layout files ready for small-batch PCB fabrication. Let’s get your prototype built safely and efficiently! Best regards,

I can design a reliable, regulated 24 V AC-DC power supply that maximizes the use of your existing components: 3510 bridge rectifier, four 4700 uF filter capacitors, terminal blocks, and LED indicator. Here is my planned approach for your design: Schematic and Topology: Design a clean rectification, bulk capacitance smoothing, and linear regulation stage to keep the 24 V output within plus or minus 5 percent under 75 percent load. Component Verification and Thermal/Ripple Analysis: Verify voltage ratings, select bleeder/snubber values, and calculate power dissipation to ensure no component exceeds continuous operating limits. Transformer and LED Selection: Provide precise specifications for the local iron-core transformer secondary voltage and current ratings, along with calculations showing whether the 480 ohm or 2.2 kohm resistor provides optimal LED current. PCB and CAD Deliverables: Deliver complete native KiCad or Altium design files along with a ready-to-print schematic PDF.

Hi, I reviewed your requirements and the reference schematic you attached. One flag before we proceed: the current schematic only covers rectification and filtering — it has no actual voltage regulation stage, so the output would sag under load and wouldn't hold 24V ±5% at 75% load, which is your key acceptance criterion. I can fix this properly. Proposed design: Bridge rectifier (your BR3510) → 4×4700µF/35V filter bank (as you have) → LM7824 linear regulator stage for true 24V ±5% regulation under load Bleeder resistor across the filter caps for safe discharge Input/output ceramic caps on the regulator for stability LED indicator resistor corrected to 2.2kΩ (480Ω would overdrive a standard 5mm LED) Transformer spec: 22–24V AC secondary, 1A / 24VA — sized for your <500mA load with safe headroom Fuse + optional reverse-protection diode for basic safety compliance Deliverables: Clean schematic (PDF, and KiCad project file if needed for your PCB spin) Full BOM with values matched to your on-hand parts Component stress checks (voltage/power ratings vs. your caps and resistor) confirming nothing exceeds rated limits Short build/test notes so you can assemble and verify without follow-up questions

Hi there, I can design this 24V AC-to-DC power supply for you and deliver the complete project files in KiCad, ready for you to spin a PCB. Using your 3510 bridge rectifier and the four 4700 µF / 35V capacitors, we need to be very precise with the transformer selection. To maintain a regulated 24V output while keeping the peak DC voltage safely below your capacitors' 35V limit, I will specify the exact AC secondary voltage/current for your transformer. I will also add a suitable linear regulator stage (such as an LM317 or L7824) to ensure the output stays within the ±5% tolerance under 75% load. Before finalizing the KiCad schematic, I will run the circuit through LTspice to verify the ripple voltage and ensure the power dissipation stays within safe limits for continuous operation. Along with the design files, I will provide a brief documentation detailing the exact transformer specs to source locally, and the quick math for selecting the right LED resistor (between your 480 Ω and 2.2 kΩ options) based on the final unregulated DC rail. Are there any specific physical size constraints for the PCB, or am I free to optimize the board layout purely for thermal management? Best regards, Ahmet

Hi, I can design a reliable 24 V regulated AC-to-DC power supply that meets your requirements. I'll provide a clean schematic, verify all component ratings and power dissipation, recommend any necessary additions (bleeder resistor, snubber, regulator, etc.), calculate the LED resistor value based on the final DC rail, and specify the appropriate transformer secondary voltage and current rating. I work in Altium and Kicad and can deliver the complete project files, PDF schematic, BOM, and a PCB layout if required. I'll also ensure the design meets your acceptance criteria for output regulation, thermal performance, and ease of assembly. Before I begin, I'd just like to confirm the required output current (or maximum load), as that will determine the transformer rating, regulator choice, and thermal design. Looking forward to working with you!

Hi there! I was going though your project and available components, and discovered hidden design vulnerabilities and pitfalls that are easy to overlook and could cause anything from minor inefficiencies to chances of component destruction and power up failures. To ensure safe operation while optimising costs, I will give you the accurate solutions to these circuit bottlenecks: 1) With a 24V transformer, your 35V capacitors will instantly blow up due to AC-DC physics 2)While regulating voltage, standard voltage regulators like the LM7824 will either not power up at all, or completely burn themselves out 3) 35V caps have a high series resistance and are good for bulk filtering at lower frequencies, but won't be able to filter out high frequency noise or current ripple. 4) How important bleeder resistors are here, how not including them can be lethal, and how including them incorrectly will lead to inefficiencies that also impact component life. 5) A snubber is not the right choice here As I work in KiCad, I can easily share the project files with you so that you can seamlessly convert your schematic into a PCB. To get started, How much current do you mean by 75%? It will help me select the correct current rating for your transformer for safe operations. Let's get started building this great project together! Best Regards, Alka
