We are a business that has designed an Apple iPad application. We have split the development of this app into 3 phases. You are bidding on ONLY the first phase of this project at this stage. We are looking to find a developer that we can use to complete phases 2 and 3 at a later stage. We also have other apps being designed so are looking for a developer we can partner with going forward.
The app will need to be developed using Xcode and will be sold on the app store under our company name. We will need to own all the rights to sell and use the product as our own work. We take protecting our idea seriously and require any developer that wishes to go ahead and develop this app to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
Before committing to a developer we would like to speak with them via VoIP call (ideally Skype). We would also like to use Skype when working on the project for discussion and progress updates. Good use of the English language (written and verbal) is essential for any bidders.
Most of the application has already been designed so it will be up to the developer to put the app together using our detailed application design/proposal. We cannot release the full details of the app at this stage but this is a general overview to allow you to bid.
Phase 1 Requirements
The app will be used only on an iPad and initially only in the landscape orientation. It will be a product used by individuals to record events that occur when carrying out a site visit to a domestic or commercial property. This ‘visit’ could be needed for various reasons in different professional capacities e.g. a flooded house, broken window, damaged car, damaged washing machine etc.
The app will be used to record details of the ‘visit’ such as the arrival date and time, address, contact details, notes, required actions, measurements, GPS location, leaving date and time. Using only the iPad the app will allow the user to take photos, videos (both using the built in camera) and voice notes (using the built in microphone) and save them to the site visit along with the other details. In this phase the app needs to be able to receive site visit ‘instructions’ via email e.g a new visit request from their office or colleague including the name and address. In the future (phases 2/3) these instructions might come from a website/database/centralised system.
The photos taken using the app need to be able to have measurements and notes drawn on them (overlaid) much like the existing app ‘MeasuresLite’.
A basic drawing tool will need to be created similar (but simpler) to the existing app ‘Archimeasure’. Using this tool simple floor plans/layouts and dimensions will need to be recorded and saved with the other visit details.
Once the visit is complete a report needs to be produced that can be emailed/sent directly to a recipient. This initially could be a PDF (in phase 1) but in the future (phases 2/3) would need to be in a format that other users could connect/import into their databases (XML?) or sent to another user who is using the App.
The App's Key Points
• Full integration with the iPad’s camera for photos and videos.
• Full integration with the iPad’s microphone to record voice notes.
• Ability to receive ‘instructions’ from an external source (i.e. email or website/database).
• Local database on the iPad (e.g. SQLite).
• Ability to overlay measurements like the app MeauresLite
• Ability to draw simple floorplans like the app Archimeasure.
• Ability to be further developed in the future and connected to web databases/other databases.
