The solver most suitable for this application is chtMultiRegionSimpleFoam chtMultiRegionSimpleFoam is a steady state solver. So, the time derivations are neglected in a steady state solution the changes in time are zero. In your case there are 5 layers with convective heat transfer at the top glass surface and also at the bottom backplate surface. I can use the case I ran for my Bachelor Thesis (comprising of earth and glasswool material - basically a two layer simulation) and adaopt it to include 5 layers of material. I think maybe you are also interested in the thermal gradients during transient operation so I can provide you a transient simulation, again using chtMultiRegionSimpleFoam (*after making certain tweaks ;)
